Question guys, I'd like to mod my Gamecube to output 480P properly. My preference goes to the GCVideo analog mod as I can hook that up to my (future) OSSC. Now, badassconsoles sells them and as far as I understand I'd need the A101 option, but he doesn't ship the kit outside the USA. I'm also not sure what's included in the kit as he also sells a PCB only version. I found a website that sells the chips as well, just not sure which one I'd need in my case: http://www.knjn.com/ShopBoards_RS232_Parallel.html If somebody could point me in the right direction that would be great.
It seems he's not shipping kits anywhere at the moment and is only accepting consoles for installations from the US. Also, I realise you've probably done your research on them, but his kits seem fairly overpriced for what they are. Expect them to drop massively once someone releases a more functional competing version. The pre-programmed Pluto-IIx XC3S200 HDMI (Item 6117) is what you would need for the GC, but as the model number might suggest, it is the HDMI version of the board. There is a non-programmed version without HDMI, but I'm not sure the points you'd need for analog output are available on the board. The GCVideo github only seems to refer to using HDMI with the Pluto.
Ah, that's a shame he's not offering the components anymore. So in terms of an analog gcvideo for use with the OSSC I'm pretty much screwed I hope there will be alternatives available soon then...
Ingo Korb's GCVideo repository's README.md mentions a Lite version with analog output without a line doubler - Mini-FAQ item 6. https://github.com/ikorb/gcvideo
Nice find, I've been searching for one of those but they don't seem to be availble anywhere. I want to prevent having to flash one for myself as I keep finding a lot of topics of people having issues flashing the chip. Maybe I'll just purchase the HDMI version instead and skip my OSSC plans for the Gamecube...
That's awesome, count me in for the analog one! I am assuming you are going to sell it, if yes, any details yet regarding price and ETA?
I doubt I will be selling them directly. But I'm in the works with VGPerfection to build and sell kits. I might do a few mods here and there to try and recoup losses designing these. Can't give an ETA, because the design is untested and I've been busy. I can say it won't be soon. I jumping projects to finish up on my HDMI Wii design before I revisit this analog board..
I try to be upfront. I have many many projects in the works. Since moving I've been side tracked. I'm going to do my best to get back into the swing of things. I may try to work on the Wii HDMI tonight.
