Might be too obvious, but I ask anyway. Not even if you hold down the power button for about/more than 4 seconds?
I plan to softmod my Wii next week. Found a few guides, but I would like to know which one is the best?
Yes, that works, but you shouldn't have to do that every time. Also, doing that shuts the system down. It's better to put it into standby mode.
Wouldn't standby mode shoot up my electric bill, even if only a little bit? And I use a power bar which I manually turn off except when I'm using something that's connected to it, so there's that.
So I just installed homebrew and bootmii. How do I play my JP gamecube games now? EDIT: Neogamma. But how do I use it without my SD card? As a channel?
I've never seen this happen unless BootMii is set to boot2 on the Wii, meaning it'll automatically boot into BootMii if it's on the SD card. In that case just removing BootMii prevents it from happening. Considering how little power the Wii uses even when fully turned on, it's not worth worrying about.
That's true, but I want it to boot to BootMii so that I can bypass the Wii system menu and go directly to the Homebrew Channel. Like I said before, if you do it that way, you can use only the GC controller, thus eliminating the need for the Wii remote and sensor bar. If you know of a different way to do that, I'd love to hear it.
I have used converters for years on both GC and Wii with GC controller support. Many are lagless with no issues, providing you use official Dualshock controllers. Many after market controllers and arcade sticks have cheap PCBs and don't function well with converters and can create input lag if that's an issue, so do some research on what you buy and use.
Guys, could someone please give me a step-by-step guide on how to install the Neogamma in my Wii? I've read and searched the links I could find. But no luck. I can load it just fine through homebrew, but only from my SD card. And also please show me how to make it so that either the homebrew (or even Neogamma itself) loads automatically every time I turn the Wii on. That way, I won't have to use my Wiimote and would only have to use my GC controller.
If you put BootMii on an SD card, it'll boot to that, and then you can go from there to the Homebrew Channel. You can control both BootMii and the Homebrew Channel with a GC controller. I can't help you with any of that other stuff.
From this guide, I did go through the optional stuff of installing bootmii, although I'm not a lucky winner, so apparently no boot2 or something. However, it doesn't start up automatically, so I must have it in the wrong place. Any ideas? Do I just change the config from "SYSMENU" to "HBC"?
I use this to modify bootmii settings http://wiibrew.org/wiki/BootMii_Configuration_Editor Mine is installed to boot2 so not sure if this will work for you. Other option would be to install Priiloader and change the settings to run HBC on boot Not sure why you need neogamma loader, http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Gecko_OS should allow you to play import games If you want to play your own gc games I recommend gcevolution
I know I can play Brawl with a Wiimote, but that option is terrible, so I shan't be doing it. I plan on softmodding my black Wii once I figure out how to fix its video issue.
Riiiiiiiight... which is why you should play it on a Gamecube controller? I don't understand. I thought you were complaining about the fact that you had to use a Gamecube controller (which isn't true, as I already pointed out).
That's exactly what I read through. And it doesn't work. I changed it to "HBC". Don't know what's wrong. EDIT: Nvm, got it to work with Priiloader. I'm not in the mood to change it to be honest. I only plan to play my own purchased GC games and neogamma is working quite well so far. The only problem I have is the fact that I need my SD card to load it when I want it to be in my Wii internally. Never heard of that...
So right now I'm most concerned with how the heck do I make neogamma and bootmii to load without needing my SD card? this link only tells me what it does. It doesn't tell me how to do it.
^^ you don't! the channel (forwarder) is just a link that leads to the app (neogamma in this instance) the channel is the ONLY part of an app that's written to the nand, the program itself MUST be on an sd card OR usb device! .... been a while since i wasted my time on a wii SOFTMOD (game app too) due to the WODE making things FAR easier! :friendly_wink: good luck to a fix! (and read up on all documentation before usage/installation) ..... ... [edit] typos.. (the [/code] STERILE tag wrapper is another bbcode that's NULL/void here, yet it's fine at all other forums frequented! [/quote] tag wrapper will have to suffice i guess?!)
