Hi everyone. I recently got a new TV and am looking at Gamecube HD cables. From what I can see, they are quite hard to come by. My question is are there 3rd party cables that I can get. I know there are multi cables but do they plug into the digital port on the rear of the cube or the standard. I would prefer to get a cheap 3rd party one if they exist. If they do can anyone link me to a site or tell me where to pick on up. Thanks!

I *think* you need a GC with digital out. Check eBay for cheap 3rd party cables.

Ok, I have paypal ready provided its cheap enough.

I have 3 cubes, 1 of them with the digital out. My big question is, I know there are lots of those 3 pack cables that come with s-video (cube,ps2,xbox) deals? If I get one of those will the cube plug be digital??? Anyway let me know on that cable man. Thanks!

EDIT: Ok, I just looked at my TV manual and it says my TV can do 480i. Does that mean I can still use the cables and they will work? The TV has componet and composite and s-video in on it.

The 3 in 1 cables with s-video will plug into the analogue port, as thats where the cube outputs s-video.

if your TV only does 480i there isnt a huge advantage to finding component cables - It will be better quality than S-Video, but not as much as if your TV supported 480p. Since the component cables may well be quite expensive I'd stick to S-video, with interlacing the quality isn't huge amounts better anyway.

Ok then, I got the set on sale so its no biggie anyway. I have all my consoles set up through one of those little system selectors. I have the selector hooked to the TV with a stright S-Video cable. If I run the console S-video's into the selector will it be ok running through there?

I mean to say will I lose any quality running the image through my selector on all my consoles?

Yes, you will always lose some quality going through one of them. Best way to compare is just to connect first into the selector, then direct into the TV. If you can't notice a difference, or the difference is acceptable, then theres no reason not to use it.

ok, just for the record does anyone know what the cheapest 480p TV I could get would be? All of them around my small town are like 600 dollars on up for a small one and I want at least a 27in and I prefer CRT not flat panel.

Good luck with this. Nintendo has stopped production, I have yet to find a web vendor that has any and on Ebay they go for around $100. If you do find some please let me know.

BTW no third partys make these cables. If you pay attention to 3-1 cables for GC, Xbox and ps2 they all have the disclaimer that the GC will only output video from the Svideo cable. The official cables have a chip in them that help process the signal that was not available to anyone but Nintendo. I think buying a Wii might be as cost effective to get a 480p signal out from GC games.
