I sold my official component cables some years ago, but have been considering getting a solution for the old cube again. I've been playing my Gamecube games through the Wii with component, and that's generally fine... there are reasons I'd like to use the original console again, though. So I've been reading about this thing: https://zzblogs.wixsite.com/home Reviews make it sound like a pretty legitimate solution, if not "better" than the official component cables for HDTVs. $100 is slightly steep, but a hell of lot better than what people charge for the component. I just want to know if anyone here has had experience with this product, or can vouch for it. The Nintendo Life review mentioned something about 480i not being so great with it (depending on the TV), which would be an issue... but as long as 480i is as clear as it would be through component, then that's totally fine.
There's also this slightly cheaper one... https://hdmycube.com/ Anybody have any input? I'm probably going to end up ordering one anyway... then I'll give myself input.
The Carby is both cheaper and, I would say, better than the two options mentioned. https://insurrectionindustries.com/product/carby-version-2black/
Carby for HDMI only ($75), GCHD Mk II for HDMI/RGB/YPbPr ($149.99), or citrus3000psi's GCDual for internal mods ($120 minus installation (if needed)). There's been lots of bad press around ZXP's products and at least one GC being fried because of one of their older revisions.
Just wanted to update this by saying that I ultimately got the Carby. Only used it for a day so far, but it really is great. Definitely not missing those official component cables! I can definitely say it looks better than playing Gamecube titles through the Wii component. Very nice product overall. Thanks for the help everyone!
