WTB. Would prefer "Plus" version. Game should have serial code etc.

    US NTSC version only.

This is the play, not pirate :)

    Very eager to buy this.

Would also consider the PC version, or trading (I have Super Smash Bros.)

Was the NTSC-U plus version really rare? I've got NTSC-J (v1.0 and v1.1) if you're interested. I believe they're multilingual, no? I guess you might have booting issues though.

EDIT: While slightly cheaper, AmazonJP has similar prices for the Japanese counterparts. Did interest in these surge when the homebrew servers came up?

No since the mod chip came out and no one streams games anymore so the non-plus went back down. It used to fetch a pretty penny back in the day. I still think you can go onto actual servers on the GC version still but would need the Plus in order to do so. I traded my non-plus to Nintendo to get a Plus version a long time but I sold it already.

If by "actual servers" you mean Sega's servers, they've been down (in all regions) for quite a while now. None of them ever required Plus over non-plus.

Wikipedias list of dates for server shutdowns:

    Server shutdown dates
    • Phantasy Star Online Ver. 1 and 2 (US) - 31 October 2003
    • Phantasy Star Online Episode III C.A.R.D. Revolution Trial Edition - 15 September 2003
    • Phantasy Star Online/Phantasy Star Online ver. 2 (North America) - 1 October 2003
    • Phantasy Star Online (Microsoft Windows) - January 2004
    • Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II ver. 1.0 - 26 March 2004 [4]
    • Phantasy Star Online Ver. 1 and 2 (PAL & JP) - 2 April 2007[5][6]
    • Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II (GC Ver. 1.1 and Plus Version) and Phantasy Star Online Episode III C.A.R.D. Revolution - 1 April 2007 [7][8][9]
    • Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst (US) - 31 March 2008
    • Phantasy Star Online (Xbox JP) - 31 January 2008
    • Phantasy Star Online (Xbox US) - 22 April 2008 12am PST
    • Presumably the official servers for the Dreamcast version of Phantasy Star Online were to be shut down when the servers were officially closed. However, the Dreamcast servers were still accepting connections, except the connections would be dropped after some period of inactivity. Those servers were shut down on April 1, 2007, no longer accepting any connection, the same time the servers for the Gamecube version was shut down.
    • SEGA has terminated support for the Japanese Xbox version of Phantasy Star Online Episode I&II on January 31, 2008. This had no effect the European PAL or North American versions of the game, which were terminated on April 22, 2008. [10]
    • Despite an announcement of an April 30 closure for the Xbox servers, Sega and Microsoft did not honor the date. The servers were not re-activated after Xbox Live maintenance on April 22nd. The result of this was that the Xbox players did not receive the promised last week of PSO online service.

You can always connect to a unofficial server ;-)

Sorry a little of topic but my non-Plus stopped working after they released the Plus version. I had the option to send it into Nintendo to get the Plus version so I could go back online since they discovered how to stream data to the GC with the non-Plus version so it was deactivated somehow.
