Well, it's getting to be that time again where I now feel the need to mod my extra gamecube to play imports. I'd like to know if anyone here knows what kind of parts I'll need, instructions on where to solder to the points, and most of all, where and how much it is to get the parts. Thanks for reading and any help you can give out to me.

Do you want to play PAL games? If not, you can install a switch to switch between NTSC-U and NTSC-J very easily. Do a google search.

Yeah region switch has better JP game compatibility than a modchip. But cannot go either into PAL, or from PAL.
So PAL Gamecube systems will always have issues in the troublesome JP games.

Should have made it more clear that I use a NTSC, I thought of a region switch but not to sure on what I'll need and how much it'll cost. I'd honestly like the switch idea more then a chip but I'm not to sure if I'd have to make cuts into the system or not.

Well there are micro switches small enough for the system's rear slits. GC has few places to mount cleanly.

Be warned it won't let you play PAL games, as I implied.

Not looking to buying PAL games. If I wanted a PAL GC I have people I can score them for cheap.

I've got a stash of XenoGCs. Not so much in the way of switches though, at least any that'd look good on a non-black cube.

No problem. Don't mess around. These things are more delicate than they look.

My luxury Gamecube has been on the shelf for months after I messed up, giving it trouble reading discs.

Did you ever track down if it was the laser or controller PCB? I've got a cube here with a case that virtually guarantees it won't get sold that reads discs just fine.

No. The thought of looking inside again still puts me off. I feel like I would if a panasonic q did that to me. :(

I've been using an unmodded black cube for now.

Don't care how my hardware looks as long is the software is displayed nicely and works. I'll take what ever ya got APE as long as it works and you can send a pic/ tutorial guide on where the stuff gets soldered.
