Hey everyone, I'm about to install this XenoGC chip I got from Bad_Ad84 and I noticed something on my Gamecube that looks a bit strange. One of the capacitors right next to the area where the XenoGC sits is bridged to the capacitor above it. This Gamecube has never been opened or modded before so I was wondering if anyone has seen this before. More pics of the install coming.
If it runs fine I wouldn't worry about it. If you've never installed a chip into a GC, make sure you do not heat the area for too long - those vias tear out very easy. Good luck! Diagrams: http://imgur.com/a/MvI7b
OK, good to know! I was surprised when I saw that because it looks like a glob of solder accidentally fell on the PCB. Must be something they did on specific models because I haven't been able to find any other pics online of another gamecube with this bridged connection. Thanks for the tip and the diagram!
