    Hello,

I bought a GameGear in poor condition on a flea market, at least the price was good just for the game included.
I recapped the main and sound PCBs; I can hear the music but the screen stays like that, whether there is a game or not:

I found this video, where you heat the black chip on the right (yeah, don't laugh too hard).
Since I had nothing to lose, I tried, but nothing changed.

Is there something I could try, or is it definitely dead?
    Thanks.

Pretty sure there is more ribbon there than that one tiny section.

I have a game gear with the same fault, I haven't tried anything yet (does need new caps).

I checked each pad of the ribbon, and all of them are correctly soldered. It seems that I can't do much more, except this TV output mod.

I would go back and re-check all of your capacitors and make sure they are oriented correctly. The only time I haven't been able to fix a Gamegear screen is when they were physically cracked, broken. You can even fix it if the ribbon has pulled from the motherboard. Also what kind of capacitors did you use?
