    Now that's gonna be unusual request - I'm looking for games featuring turtles as a main character, but not from "teenage mutant ninja turtles" series :). If someone recall a game where you take control of a turtle, please let me know in this thread. Platform doesn't matter, as long it's not PC only game ;). Someone very important to me love those little critters and video games - combination of both would be something awesome.

    I guess the existence of the TMNT scared away most developers, as there are not a lot of other games starring turtles.

    Logo?

    No, seriously. Xbox Live had an indy game called Hurdle Turtle which is made in an 8-bit style. Appropriate for all ages, although this sort of game might not have a lot staying power. Link:

    You maybe want to investigate some of the Pokemon side games too. Mystery Dungeon Blue Rescue Team allows you to play as the Squirtle monster, although the type of character you get depends on how you answer certain personality questions when you start a new game. I haven't played the other Mystery Dungeon games but I imagine they operate the same way.

    If you're really ambitious and don't mind importing, Gamera has appeared in a large number of games, mostly fighters and shooters where Godzilla has the top billing. But if I read your original request right, those types of games might not be age-appropriate.

    So, Super Mario Bros. would be in the exact opposite direction of what you are looking for then?

    You can play as a turtle in Diddy Kong Racing and you can easily beat the game with him (he's by far the best standard character) so maybe that counts?

    @kendrick
    Yeah, I bought Hurdle Turtle and it's great - 80msp was dirt cheap for such a gem :).
    @mairsil
    SMB is turtle killing rampage :p.

    Anyway, thanks for replies guys, looks like turtles are not good material for video game characters :)

    I'm sure there's a few decent turtle-based games around... But the only ones I can think of right now are "Franklin's Great Adventures" (don't bother) and "Turbo Turtle Adventure" (actually quite fun, but the "turtle" is actually just a ball), both for GBA.

    Thinking of TTA and balls, wasn't there some Super Monkey Ball derivate on the Wii, which I can't recall the name of, with various animals besides just monkeys? Might be a turtle among them...

    You're thinking of Kororinpa, which had various jungle animals being rolled around on a giant maze surface. I don't remember if one of them was a turtle, but someone less lazy than me should check it out. :)

    That's the one. The cover shows only a pig(-head), bear(-head), melon and soccer ball, so probably no turtles... Wouldn't really fit with the theme they were aiming for.

    Tip Top was great, Pipsy was better (the pink squeaky mouse)

    In Super Mario Bros DS/Wii you can use a special Turtle suit

    PS: I love turtles too!
