So, I own 2 saturns, the model 1 I bought from ape(favorite) and a model 2 I bought in a lot back in 2011. BAck in 2011 I bought a saturn lot for 50 bucks that the seller had included a bunch of complete games with it (did not disclose what they were). Fast forward to today I was watching Adam koralik's video about the saturn and towards the end he mentioned some of his favorite games, one of which being burning rangers and then he goes on to say how it can't be obtained cheaply these day, and as luck would have it the lot I bought back in 2011 had an almost perfect copy of burning rangers with. This find made my day, prior to now I had never played my copy.

Now I am interested if any of the members here have stories like this, I.E games in there collection that now have value.

It doesn't really count, but for me it was Cubic Ninja.

When Smealum announced that his 3DS hack would use Cubic Ninja, I immediately bought the game new from a video game shop. It cost me 8Eur. 2 months later, I got a Gateway and sold Cubic Ninja for 35Eur.

Cubic Ninja still holds it's value and doesn't cost less than $40.

Probably my copy of Mario Party 2. Uncle bought it for me new back in the day when staying at his house, and I forgot all my games at home.

Also, sorry but "A LOT" is two words.

My Knights of the Round (SNES, PAL) cart has increased in price about tenfold since I bought it, which I did only because it was still on the "undumped" list back then - I don't even care much for the game itself.

Conker's Bad Fur Day (bought at launch) doubled in value too, which is purely academical though, because really, why would you sell it? :)

Suikoden II, I got it for Christmas back in the 90s when it was for sale. Great game, I played it at the time, then forgot about it for 12 or so years. Discovered that in the meantime it sells for triple digit prices.

Nekketsu Oyako - PS1 / SAT. Got in a lot with Gunners Heaven, Hermie Hopperhead and some other japanese games. Somehow it's the price skyrocket recently. One of the youtube channels i'm subscribed recently made a video about it.

Guilty Gear - PS1 (US version). Got it for 40 Reais a couple of years ago. It's worth over six times that now.

My DOOM II GBA cart. Had no idea it was worth a little chunk of change.

Cannon Spike, I got it in a very cheap lot with other stuff, and I had no idea what it was worth -- it's not that expensive but anyways.

In 2007-2008 when I bought my second Super Nintendo from a friend, I payed R$450 (I don't remember how much it was in dollars at the time) and I got a CIB system and some CIB games.
Between those games there was some that I knew were worth a bit more than the others but I also got a CIB copy of Sparkster.
I was very surprised when I saw how much it cost and how much it is going for nowadays.

I'm sure there's an obvious reason, but I'm just not sure why they're worth all what they are.

Super Tempo... I own two copies, one sealed and one open. I enjoy the game and play it, but really I got it accidentally in large lots. That was a few years prior to the hype when Super Tempo was only worth around $50. I got each game for less than $10, so I was very happy at the time... but nowadays that the value has rocketed to $200 for an open copy I'm happier than ever :p

Too bad both copies are sunfaded. At least one of them isn't faded on the side of the spinecard, so it blends in nicely with the rest of my collection. Having two copies already, I'm definitely too cheap to buy another unfaded one at the moment.

''Simpson : Bart and the Beanstalk'' C.I.B. I bought the game out of interest at a retro game shop and good thing for me the owner (nor me) was aware of the rareness of the game in that condition, and I got it for $15 CAD.

Well, not really rare and not really a surprise... But I bought a copy of Zelda for the famicom disk system new for somewhere around $25-35 years ago. Last I checked I think they had sold for around $100-150.
Just checked eBay again, and looks like two have sold recently for $79
