Can any of you please tell me which games you know of that come with a poster in their case? I know the GTA games (Red Dead Redemption, too) do, as well as the Elder Scrolls games, but beyond them, I just don't know. There's empty spaces on my walls that need to be filled, so help would be appreciated.
The only ones I can think of at the moment are: Earthworm Jim 1 & 2 (Genesis) Last Bronx (Saturn, Japanese) I'm sure there are others.
The number of such games must be in the high hundreds, if not a few thousand. For the Japanese Saturn and Famicom alone there are hundreds of games each that came with some sort of poster/map, and the Japanese home computer market had an even higher ratio of posters.
I just think it would be very hard to pin down a list for this, at least until you cut it down to just one particular platform. Also, what counts as a poster? A large, separate one like the ones that come with any GTA game, or the fold-out manual in Panzer Dragoon (Japanese version for the Saturn) that also has featured a poster-artwork on the back?
Pretty much both of what you described. As long as it has fold-out artwork/a map of some kind (separate from the manual or not), I'd consider it the type of poster I'm after.
how far back do you want to go? lol F22 lightening came with a poster (MegaDrive) along with tones of other sega games. Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 on the xbox 360 came with a poster of the C&C girls and also had a reversible cover insert Rainbow Six 3 on the PC came with concept art and an Armoury poster showing off all the guns in the game.
Ultima Online had a cloth map which I guess you could put up on a wall; other Ultimas had maps too, not sure which kind though (e.g. The Savage Empire was paper). Sam and Max Hit the Road didn't have a poster, but a nice 3D (relief) print of the box artwork.
As far back or current as I can get. Also, thanks for the names of those games! Mmm, babes... that poster will go around my Bonnie Mcfarlane poster if I ever score a complete copy of that C&C game. EDIT: This appeared after my post; Ah, thanks. The cloth map would look nice to my Naboo Starfighter pillow cover I have on my wall.
I thought that every Genesis game came with a poster. Maybe I just got lucky, but every new Genesis game I got as a kid (about 10 or so) and even a few used ones came with a poster of the game. Thinking back, I had Sonic 2, Strider, Phantasy Star 4, Castle of Illusion and a poster telling you about other games available at the time.
Some Atari Lynx games came with a poster that in the back had the instructions for the game. Ninja Gaiden is one of them and the instructions in the back are in the form of a comic strip.
