That haven't or aren't already being made. So this thread came to mind after finding out that the movie called Rampage that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (that's literally how you have to say his name) is filming is actually based off the old arcade game. The one where you play as the monsters who destroy cities. I'm expecting a decent Godzilla ripoff, but that's besides the point. What other video games that have never been made into a movie do you think would work? Also we're not counting ones that are in development, like Assassin's Creed, or (ugh, this can't end well) Sonic. It's probably cause I've had the damn theme stuck in my head the last 3 days straight, but I wouldn't mind seeing a Road Avenger/Road Blaster/Road Prosecutor (why all the different names?) movie. It's a simple enough story that it can definitely fit in a 2 hour movie without cutting anything important, but is cool enough people would see it. Anyone else have ideas?
Sorry to say it, but majority of games should stay games. It just doesn't seem to work out very well to say the least. However, if it's likely animated then it's more likely to work. Live action doesn't work so well with a fictional world.
You may have seen it, it's called Mad Max. It's almost comedic how much of Road Avenger is straight up lifted from the first movie.
But MGS is already a movie. I'm still holding out for that Halo one myself, Landfall was absolutely amazing and I'm honestly very surprised nothing ever came of it. Forward Unto Dawn was alright, but Nightfall sucked.
The great majority of video game films translate poorly. Off the top of my head, only the first Mortal Kombat and Silent Hill worked out well. Resident Evil would have been decent had it not ignored most of the source material. FF: The Spirits Within had fantastic animation but a weak sauce sci-fi story.
Any of the newer CoD games are pretty much interactive movies, so it wouldn't be too tough to just make them full fledged movies. I always thought DOOM would have made for a fun movie, but we all know how that turned out. I wish they would try again to make a decent Final Fantasy movie, but I doubt that will happen.
how about FF advent children? i actualy think its a good movie. tho its dated now its still a good watch
Batman: Arkham Asylum could make a much better movie than any of the existing Batman movies. There have often been rumours about a Half-Life movie, and if done properly than that could be very good.
Command & Conquer would make a good movie if you did something along the lines of what they did with C&C Renegade with the GDI commando or some other single hero unit as the star of the show (and got the right action star to play as Havoc)
Armored Core. They could even let michael bay and shia labeouf tag-team that shit and it would still be great.
I would say Hitman, but we have already seen how it turned out. It would actually be cool to see a Far Cry movie with a cool villain and setting like Far Cry 3 ( There was actually a horrible Far Cry movie released many years ago, but that's quite obscure). The Mafia games could also make great movies.
I dunno, the Arkham games have been pretty good. And as a 90s kid, I'm always going to think of Kevin Conroy as Batman and Mark Hamil as the Joker. EDIT: Wait, if Mask of the Phantasm counts it's the best and probably better than the games would be.
Nah, C&C was pretty much already a movie and anything not revolving around Kane/Kucan wouldn't be worth it.
