De La Jet Set Radio: This is in my DC right now. I might even break out the "inferior" original for old times sake. I still can't get JET rankings on the long stages though. Jet Set Radio Future: See above Shenmue I & II: Haven't played either in a while, but have played the first about 4 times and II at least twice all pretty spread apart. That's unreal for me. ESPGaluda II: As this was the only arcade game I've ever bought on release ($$$) I figured I better get my money out of it. I've come back to it 2 or 3 times after clearing it, getting a better score each time. My last goal was 600 mil, but only got 586 mil, only securing 2nd at shmups. I've probably played a few thousand credits on it, easily. Gussun Paradise: Best game on the Playstation Descent 3: My one bastard game... although I've not played it in ages. Need to get a stick and jump online. Is there any decent emulator w/ netplay that plays this? I loved playing this game. Guess I should wait until it comes out on the Wii and buy a Wii... sad thing is it'll probably use that damn Wiimote.
I've never played it, but I'd like to. How does it compare to the original? Better, worse, similar? Is it harder? I remember playing that game when it first came out - it came with a Voodoo card I bought, I think. I just remember being impressed by how smooth everything looked and how fast the framerate was at the time. Project 64 is pretty good, and it has netplay via Kalliera. It's the only N64 emulator I use because most of the others crash for some reason when I use third-party plugins.
The only games I keep returning to are those of the DOS era and a few select games that are only slightly more recent (System Shock 2, Deus Ex, etc).
Well, please define "decent" net play. The game wasn't designed to cope with the lag of online, so the code will also reflect that. Hence many hacks and tricks used in other online racers wont be there, and so in my view it wouldn't be what you'd define as "decent" That said, if both of you have low ping between yourselves, I m under the impression 1964 (the emu) will be worth a try. So you know, it is already out on the Wii I think (is it not?), but unlike XBL games no VC game gets online-competent upgrades, they're straightly emulated. Also, the game will/won't play with the Wii remote on the Wii. You have a choice of the Classic Controller (avoid imo) and the GameCube controller (better than classic surely). PS: which official version of PJ64 allows Kalliera? I was under the impression that a hacked ver of PJ64 did, but the official didn't. I also use PJ64 btw (1.7)
Goldeneye (my all time favourite), MarioKart64, Perfect Dark-N64 Sonic 1&2, Gunstar Heroes, Streets of Rage II- Megadrive Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Sonic, Buggy Run-Master System Ico, Shadows Of Rome-PS2
Oh yeah, I think you're right, it was a hacked version. I'm betting that there's an updated version that's exactly the same (except for netplay) of the latest version of PJ64, though. I don't know because I haven't looked in a long while.
I must second this. I love that Battletoads and it's fun to load that up on the SFC and see how well I play. Either I do amazing, pretty well, or have some horrible failure and start cursing. I don't know why some people hate Battletoads. Seems to me they just suck so bad they have no chance of beating it. This topic certainly has alot of solid titles mentioned in it.
Homeworld2: I just cant stop playing it! Rez: do I need to explain? Homeworld2 again Sonic 3 & Knuckles: the biggest, meanest, most addictive 2D platformer ever! Did I mention Homeworld2? GTA San Andreas: theres something about mayhem in great scale that I dont understand, but its fun nonetheless! HOMEWORLD2!!!!!11!!one
Someone I traded warez with (sue me) got me into it. Played the shit out of it. So fun. My phone bill was stupid high in those days, as there was no broadband in Japan at that time. I smoked about a pack of cigarettes per session as well. If you like Bubble Bobble style games, definitely. Harder, better. Cave's most complex scoring system to date. It's a pretty long game, and there's all types of finesse required to score high. It's a relatively cheap kit right now at about $600 brand new. The poster it comes with is only the half-sized poster though. CIT, a user here has a full 2m one for sale in my forums if you want. It rocks, although you'll never be able to frame it affordably. That would be the one thing that might make me buy a Wii. I was referring to a Wii version... IE, the next installment of the series that would most likely have online play. How you could convince a user that swinging the remote has something to do w/ karts is beyond me, but I'm sure they will find a way. I actually bust this out from time to time.
Well, judging from what little I ve seen of the Mariokart-to-be on the Wii (it rhymes) it will be probably better than DoubleDash!! but nowhere near as fun as 64. MK64 was simplistic yet extremely addictive due to level design. Instead, DD and the Wii mariokart seem to emphasize different ways to play your Kart (adding a hurdle). Also, I dislike the pastel-themed graphics of DD!! that seem to repeat themselves on MK:Wii. Speaking of mariokart, whatever the fuck happenned with the two arcade versions? Considering the Triforce is equally powerful to a Wii, one would expect some sort of port by now. PS: I was really hoping we'd get downloadable content for the wii, such as new levels etc, (especially for games like Super Smash Bros and Mariokart) yet this seems unlikely thanks to the minimal space provided inside the Wii. Better luck next generation.
Nintendo's Moto since the N64. You're right though-- MK64 is by far the best one. I tried DD for a bit and it just wasn't the same.
The only reason i bought a Gamecube was for Double Dash, i still regularly play MK64 so you can imagine how disappointed i was:crying:
So glad I'm not a college student these days. I'd never get anything done. The height of multiplayer gaming when I was living in a dorm was 4-player Madden, which I have/had zero interest in. So, I graduated. I had plenty of other distractions to overcome though.
Kinda makes me wish I was back in college... Anyway, I don't blame you for not being interested in 4-player Madden. You're not really missing much. But, back to the original topic. There haven't been too many games I could say I kept going back to even after years. However, since NFL 2K's inception on the Dreamcast, I've been playing it every subsequent year thereafter. My Dad and I literally played each game in the series all the way up until the next one came out. The cycle would keep repeating itself. That is, until EA came along and secured the exclusive NFL license. So, my Dad and I just kept playing 2K5 until I moved out.
Oh yeah, there's no way to get anything done in the dorms. The library is where it's at. With Smash, Halos, and naked DDR, it's impossible to do homework in my room.
Uh... unfortunately, I'm talking about naked dudes. I think I've seen just about everyone on the floor naked...if it's in the showers, or when we got the freshman to jump into the canal naked (see pictures of your area thread for a pic of the canal), or whether it's playing DDR. We also Spider-Manned the freshman. Allow me to explain. When they're getting and bed and the door is shut, we (who are naked) go and knock on their door. But we aren't just standing there, oh no, we're doing a handstand against the door. So the guy opening the door gets a nice view of the underside of your junk. We've also pulled off a double Spider-Man and there's rumors that a triple technique is in the works... College... EDIT: Sorry! This is WAAAAY off topic! xD
