I was thinking about advertising in one or both of these for my Sega Saturn site. Does anyone get either of these magazines? Are they pretty popular in Europe?

I think I read somewhere GamesTM has a higher sale rate than EDGE, Retro Gamer will obviously have a lower following due to the nature of the mag, but it's still supposed to be high.

I would go with GamesTM.......is getting better feedback than EDGE and Retro Gamer is to specialist if you follow........probably more for people checking up on old stuff rather than looking for newer items Saturn etc

Do you want scans of the adds in the GamesTM (as I subscribe) mag`s at all or can you get those?

Actually, I'd advise Retro Gamer over GamesTM. I think since you're selling Saturn stuff it's more suitable, but also it's bound to be a lot cheaper.

Yeah Alan, that would be great. I'm supposed to receive a couple of copies in the mail but it's been about a month now and I have a feeling that they're not going to arrive....

Retro Gamer is 125 quid for an 1/8th page ad, GamesTM is 150 quid. I'm probably going to put everything into one ad, my Japan-Games.com site, eBay store, and my Sega Saturn site, so maybe the retro gamer would be better. I've been trading emails with these guys for over a month now and still have no idea what either magazine is about.

People here are mentioning EDGE? Is this it? http://www.edge-online.co.uk/

Yep, thats EDGE. Similar vein to GamesTM, i.e. mature multiplatform machine mag.
As for advertising, I'd go with Retro Gamer, although I believe quite a lot of people read GamesTM's Retro Section.
I subscribe to both, would offer to scan some samples, but my scanner is broken

PM'ed as you may also be intersted in advertising in the german videogame magazine GameFront.

I'm sure every german user here would tell you that the GameFront magazine and our website is good stuff.
    :)

    Hi Eric

I did contact the magazines to get them mail me a pdf or something of their most recent advert pages etc, but nothing yet even though they called me!

Will get the last two issues of both and try and get them scanned in. May be in black and white hope this is ok

    Hey there

Thanks for the help, Alan, but they sent me a couple of copies in the mail. It took about a month, but they finally arrived, so there's no need for the scans. I thought they were going to be lost forever...heh.

I'm probably going to go with Retro Gamer. Seems more about what I'm looking for.... The ad should be in the September issue...

    Thanks for your comments...

Retro Gamer would get to a better audience for your type of wares than GamesTM IMHO. It might be more specialist, but that audience will likely have more money for retro gaming.

I did actually look in the most recent issues if Edge & GamesTM this morning

Edge didn`t have any game ad`s at all, all jobs and GamesTM only had a half page with just 2 ad`s

Haven`t looked at Retrogames for a while as too expensive and GamesTM normally has quite a good retro section

The trouble/one of the great things ;) about Edge is that they put most adverts together near the back of the magazine. That means that advertisers that don't have a full page advert potentially miss out.
