For Christmas I got a PS3 w/ Harry Potter Pt.2 bundle. I opened up the PS3, hooked it up to my TV. The only reason I wanted it for was to use PSL1GHT on it (I have a custom build desktop) as I am interested in programming a console. The problem is Sony put 3.65 on it, which cannot be jailbroken, meaning I can't put developer (Rebug) firmware on it to run PSL1GHT. I looked on Gamestop's return policy which states that the bundle must be in new condition with all of the complete pieces. This is not a problem -- the HP blu-ray dvd that came with it is still shrinked, along with the PSN+ trial code not ripped off, or even the manual taken out of the bag. The only problem is that I was a fucking retard and decided to not open the "proper" way, the harry potter poster thing on the outside is intact, but the innards, alas the main casing will not be repaired without a proper tape job... Even the cardboard in the inner-inner part of it is contact, it is just the main white outside casing that is torn weird. Should I just explain this to them tommorow and they should understand? I just need some moral support This will literally be the worst Chirstmas ever if I just wasted $250 (yes, yes, I know it shouldn't be about the gifts, but thats still $250 fucking dollars). There is nothing I can use on it b/c I have around 50+ games for the PC
GoH is right. Getting a new PS3 at a retail store with an old firmware may not be too easy; if you take it back and wait for that fw to get hacked, there will be a new fw by the time you go purchase the PS3 again.
