Hey, just checked out a shop called Gametron in Cambridge UK and can recommend it to anyone looking for some nice retro games.

They do up to date stuff & console repairs but also had:

Master System games, Mega Drive games, SNES games, N64 games, Saturn games, peripherals, consoles for sale (PC Engine, PAL Turbo Grafx, Jaguar, Super Grafx, NTSC SNES...)

A great place to have a rummage :)

Its at 43 Burleight St, Cambridge CB1 1DJ.

Check it out if you're in the area.

I've been there on my couple of trips to Cambridge. Got an N64 rumble pak and transfer pak both for 50p, and even rummaged through their boxes of old Atari games.. just wish *all* their stuff was on display. I'd also love that PCengine..

How much was their NTSC SNES? I'm after one of those.

I think the SNES was console only (a bit yellowed), unsure of the price. Around £20 I think but can't be sure.

The boxed PC Engine was definately £70 though. They had an unboxed Turbo Express too.

It's a great shop. I picked up Mega Games 1 for Mega Drive for £2.00 boxed with instructions.

You will have a hell of a time finding cib micros in shops - ebay will be your best bet. You'd be hard pushed to find the computers themselves in shops. With a great amount of luck you might find some at a car boot either.

Right.. I suppose it would be easier to wait on ebay..
Just thought while I' be visiting the UK why not try to patronize some shops..
I think. years back I found a shop in london called computer exchange or something.. got a boxed spectrum that time.
Car boot sales usually on the weekends right? maybe camden lock market worth a checking out..

Computer exchange (CEX) doesn't stock retro any more, Gamefocus is (pricey) at 39 Goodge Street, they stock import and pre-release games but as stated before consoles are best found on the splinternet.

If you no london a bit better there is a series of shops called "BUY SELL EXCHANGE", they normally stock vinyl, cd's and dvd's but the one in Notting Hill is dedicated to retro games.

Camden lock is definitely NOT worth checking out, over the past year its become a tourist haven for chinese import tacky bullshit.

Car boots are a big sunday morning thing in london, this is where the treasure is found!

    ps. Gamefocus = http://www.gamefocus.co.uk/shop/catalog/index.php

    Happy hunting!

it was like almost 15 years ago..

you're right, I should head to portobello road instead, definitely will check that Buy sell exchange.
