Yep. I was sad earlier today when I heard that he was in bad shape in the hospital. Was hoping by some chance he'd get over it. Didn't expect him to die today. =(
Sad news. Only the other day I was watching that Simpsons Episode that featured him as a security guard.
Suspected the worse when I saw the news yesterday of his head injury and how they already weren't expecting him to have survived. RIP
He went into a coma and his wife had them pull the plug after I believe less than a day. Obviously I don't know what his chances were of coming out of it (but alot of people do survive such things). Seems like she could have waited a bit longer though.
Once you're bleeding inside your skull is really actually pretty hard coming out of a coma--- In any case, if he had woken up he'd probably be brain damaged, and that is a permanent thing, specially when there's hemorraging involved. I think his wife made the right call.
I agree, except for the 1-day-wait part, it seems too rushed to me. Maybe there was some life insurance money behind this?
It depends on what section the bleeding is located in. Bleeding around the brain stem being the worst. I'm sure Gary's case was more serious but look at Bret Michaels. He's already talking about going back to the stage. Having something like that happen doesn't always mean you'll never come out of a coma. Brain damage could have been a real possiblity, but who's to say how severe it would have been if she had waited more than a day?
The prognosis was probably really bad, I mean, with all his other health problems... Plus, I doubt any doctor,no matter how pro-euthanasia he/she might be would allow to pull the plug unless they had proof of severe brain damage (such as could be seen in an MRI or a flat EEG). I'm not saying it's impossible to come out of a comma, but maybe his chances were too close to zero.
