Well, I don't feel like going on a socio-economic tangent too much, but I don't feel so bad about it - people should, in my opinion, use public transportation more often (which is a boon to the environment in several ways), or walk or bike more often. I only drive when I have computers/furniture/nitrogen to transport, even though I really enjoy it.
Well, i don´t have a motorised veichle, so i use the public transportations. even they are shite in the state of Denmark. And i prefer walking when i can
I usually drive to North Carolina to be with my son and drive back on monday morning to be at work in atlanta and gas goes from $2.47 in NC. $2.32-$2.42 in SC. and back up to $2.52 in Atlanta Ga. so what i learned is i drive to fucking much.
90.9p/litre. Cost me £30 for the first time last week, for about 32 litres (I have about a 35 litre tank)
We get to drive all the way to Greenville, SC, and then to Altanta to visit my uncle for Thanksgiving. Why we're going to visit him, I'll never know, since he doesn't really like seeing us (his nephews). I'm just glad I don't have to pay for gas during that time ^_^. I hate driving, but I hate public transportation even more. I like the idea, but I'm too impatient to wait for a bus. Besides, I have to drive to work, since it's out in the country. There aren't any buses that come around here.
Greenville SC is nice i like it but the cops are brutal. And they are always grouping. Grouping is where one cop shoots the radar while 4 or 5 are the chase cars. It would be nothing to see 6 cars in a line with bunches of cop cars behind them with lights blazing. One thing i never understood was how the cops can pull you over being unmarked i was pulled over by a cop in a suv which was weird.
Greenville is where I was born, so naturally I'm a bit biased . My mom was pulled over at 2AM one night we were in Greenville. She was going 70 in a 35, and she was stupid enough to argue with the cop when he said he'd only write her up for one mile over the speed limit. Cops are becoming crazy around here, though. I saw at least eight cop cars on one road coming home one day. Mind you, this road is about half a mile long, and is in a residential area. It's wierd... I'm just waiting until gas hits $3.15. That way I can make vague references to Deus Ex .
It's around 2.50 here in merry old Ohio. Think of it this way. If you're paying a buck for a bottle of water, 2.50 for a Gallon of gas is a damn good deal.
My dad always says, "Just be glad cars don't run off of bottled water." I knew he couldn't have come up with something like that by himself .
I bet it will go up to $3 by the end of the month. I was mainly curious as to how much gas was in other countries like UK, DK, NL, etc. Exxon Mobil profitted in about $6billion.... for the first quarter 2005... Thats 3 months, thats how much they make in 3 months!! They only have about 110,000 employees! But places like Amsterdam, and other cities where gas is expensive, tend to have adequate public transportation. USA is big, having a mass transit authority for the whole country to be in almost EVERY city and town will cost us billions more in taxes.
Yeah, but some times it's not that cut and dry. You see, where I live there is little to no public transportation, and if I need to go to the store or something, the closest area is a little over 10 miles away. It's kind of hard to walk or even ride a bike that far. Things aren't as easily accessible out here, and having a vehicle is a must for me. For instance, today I needed to go to the eye doctor to pick up some contacts, and I had to drive about 40 miles to get there.
I hope that's a typo, because that is dirt cheap . You're going by the liter, but that's still incredibly low.
I usually fill my car with Shell V-Power premium. The latest price is $2.77/gallon in my area. Since I typically buy all my gas with my Shell Mastercard, I do get 5% back on all Shell purchases, so it's not that bad for me. I usually put in $20 a week and with the latest price increases I just boost it to $25 a week. Heavy commuters have it worse than me, so I'm not gonna bitch and moan too much.
Thing is, that eco friendly stuff will not be able to keep up with the world's demand for energy. They are too expensive to produce at the moment. There are soo many options out there but there are also soo many reasons we are still stuck with oil. One of them is simply the fact that if you worked hard to buy, a ferrari, or a Humvee, you know don't want someone to stop you from using what you worked for. You know you don't want to give it up. If they can make trucks, big trucks, that run off of this eco friendly stuff and still perform equally the same the diesel and gasoline trucks perform, then you have something people wouldn't mind switching to. It's also about image too, design the eco friendly vehicle to where it doesn't make the owner look queer. This isn't a black and white issue, there are many gray areas.
That's my main issue with most hybrid cars - they look "bubbly." Once there is an affordable hybrid available that doesn't look like crap, I'll probably buy one.
that's no typo, but it's still very high for were i live. usually it's around .75$Can here. and in montreal it's close to 1.08$CAN now.
According to XE, 1 Canadian dollar is $.83 American. For the sake of simplicity, let's just say 1 liter is equal to .25 gallons. 4 x $.83 is... $3.32 Wow, you were right... I forgot my liters to gallons thing, I thought a liter was more than it is.
I'm sure just about everything in canada is half of what it is in the UK. The price of gas is irrelevant without some sort of index to base it on. Gas in Japan was about 100 yen a litre roughly, but I neer had to buy it, b/c I didn't drive. Cigarettes were really cheap (300 yen a pack) but my rent was ridiculous.
