Would it be possible to load up Gameboy games via the Super Gameboy BIOS on the SNES Everdrive? I've never attempted this via an emulator, but idea seems sound enough...

The Super Gameboy contains the entire gameboy chipset inside. Not worth it.

I'm not sure what "not worth it" even means in the context of my question. My question is does it work or not. If somebody has written an file which allows a SNES emulator to run the Super Gameboy BIOS, it stands that you could throw this file plus gameboy ROMs onto your SD card and have it work w/ the Everdrive.

Didn't the Super Gameboy literally contain the components of a Gameboy in it? How the heck will the BIOS help you run a Gameboy game without those same components?

impossible to run gb games on everdrive. super gameboy really have all gameboy components inside, so snes used only as screen and controller

By BIOS I meant the firmware components necessary for loading GB ROMs (Basic Input / Output System). It stands to reason that someone has already written an SFC ROM which acts like a Super Gameboy (takes in GB ROM, outputs SFC compatible data).

You really aren't listening. Inside every Super Gameboy is actual, physical Gameboy hardware. It isn't an emulator.

I totally am. You just aren't understanding what I'm saying. A game ROM file is a program, right? Someone can write an SFC ROM file which does in software what the Super Gameboy does in hardware. The ROM itself would essentially be a gameboy emulator. The big question is: Has someone written a Super Gameboy ROM file for emulators yet? If such a file exists and will run universally on SFC emulators (i.e. there are no special provisions in the SFC emulator to treat the Super Gameboy ROM any different than a normal SFC ROM), it should also work on the Everdrive.

There are no Gameboy emulators for SNES. Even if one was made it's unlikely it'd run at anything close to full speed.

One could just as soon write a NES or Genesis emulator, happy <10 fps gaming :)

snes has so slow cpu... even atari 2600 emulation on snes will not give 10 fps. genesis and snes too slow for any emulation. seems like n64 and ps1 it is first systems which enough powerfull for some emulation

    O yeah you're a genius

Genesis has more than twice as much processor power than the Snes, how can it be emulated on the Snes?, even with 0,000001 fps, it would be impossible, it's the same as emulate Xbox on Dreamcast or Ps3 on Wii.
    Blast processing baby!

    What's the general formula again?

A processor has to be ten times faster than the one it is emulating?

That's what Steve Snake said anyways.

10 times faster is a good figure for some things, not so for others... NES is little over 1MHz but a 25MHz 486SX chockes on emulating it... all depends on the code too... well optimized ASM certainly helps ^^

    Actually I wasn't.

    1) No it doesn't and 2) Even a NES can emulate a PS3 given enough time and memory (albeit limited by resolution, palette and attributes). CPU are designed to be Turing complete.

The SNES has enough memory to emulate Genesis thus it can (even without cartridge WRAM).

Yuji Naka is well known to have written a NES emulator for the Genesis to play Super Mario Bros. How fast it ran and how well it played the game is beyond me.

Really? Or is this just a real case of being sarcastic?

    I was about to say the same thing. You can emulate pretty much anything provided your willing to wait for it. (^_^);
