Hello ! This is my first thread here, and it's about GB X-Changer. I have one, with GB Card 16M and GB Card 64M. The GB 16M was working for sure (Super Mario Bros. was playable), but the 64M seems to be blank. So, I wanted to try those cards, playing with softs and settings. My setup: Windows XP Parallel port set to EPP (i tried SPP too). GB X-Changer with SEGA MegaDrive PSU. I copied the GIVEIO.SYS file in Windows\System32\drivers folder. I tried both GBMAX and GBX-Tool (and even Little Writer), but i can't have them to work. My GB X-Changer seems to be recognized, but not the cards (at least not correctly). With the 64M, GBX-Tool tell me "can't find correct GB card" or something like this (i'm at my home, can't check for now). The 16M was recognized (since i could erase it), but when i want to flash a ROM, it tell me "can't find EEPROM". And now, i can't play the game that was previously on the 16M card (erase must have worked so) ; and both cards appear blank now. Both cards are not recognized, and give me the "can't find correct (or suitable) card" message. I must add that i tried the cardfix on the 64M, with no success (card not found). So now i'm stuck with the two cards not working :/ I would really appreciate help from GB flashing experts ! Thanks !
Hello, thank you for your answer ! Sorry for being a bit late (due to Xmas days). So, first of all, i tried with UserPort (i could read this, can't remember where..). I could'nt do more. I successfully backed up a retail cart (well, i could'nt test the ROM itself, but at least it has done the file, with correct CRC. The 16M is still recognized, can be formated (well, it says so, and there is no game onto), but i can't flash anything (write_eeprom error 0). The 64M is not recognized at all (can't find eeprom). I'm pretty dispeared :/
Not sure what the problem is, could be a battery needs changing in the cart? Someone on another forum mentioned similar problems and it ended up he just needed to clean his cart... You can try different flashing software, DGBMax 1.6. or GBX Tool v1.8 (which you already have). Or take a look at the various other utils on the linked page. GBX Tool v1.8 mentions something about a DLL file you need if you have problems. read me for GBX Tool v1.8: Send-Util for Bung carts and Pocket Voice - with support for the 64M cart, Visual SRAM Manager, IPS-Patcher and GZIP/ZIP-Support - update your MFC42.DLL when you got problems. Flash utils found here. EDIT: Found some more info: Write Errors The following errors with certain flash programms can be fixed with a tool called "cardfix Source:http://wiki.pocketheaven.com/index.php?title=GB_XChanger
