The MPEG4 codec is too computationally expensive for the GBA. The GBA Movie Player (which I assume you meant) requires you to convert your files to a custom format first.

Then get the gba movie player from lik-sang and buy a 256 or 512 compact flash card it's brilliant. :smt023

I love mine always have it with me on the road.
Just get you divx, realmedia, quicktime or whatever and use something like virtuadub to pre convert the video and audio down so the size is a but smaller.
Then throw it through the movie players movie conversion software, copy it to the Cf card and your go :smt023

I've managed to get arround 5-6 episodes of cartoons on a 256 mb CF card with a few weeks of practice.

Although i must mention the player is at it's best with animated stuff like cartoons, normal tv/movies can be enjoyable but you need at least a 512 mb cf card if you want to watch those in verry good quality.

On my Dell Axim, I just managed to encode a full episode of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex to just 18MB, I can get almost the entire season (26 episodes) on a 512MB Compact Flash card (which someone managed to pick up for me) 320x240 with stereo sound! :smt023

  8. My question is, are subs remotely readable on any of those bad boys?

Yeah they are pretty readable it depends on the quality of the source file a lot.

Verry nice that kinda quality won't go on the gba movie player, but then aggain it's to be expected seeing as a pocket pc runs at 200 or more mhz and the poor gameboy just hasn't that much raw power.

Still i love my movie player it works like a dream on things liek the simpsons, futurama etc.. :smt023

I love my GBA Movie player too :)

After a bit of practise I managed to fit a reasonable quality version of Aliens onto my 256mb flash card to watch on the journey to Japan. 'Twas kickass.
