Anyone happen to be interested in this? I've no idea what build it is at all, never played the finished game, but you can select from english and french as languages, and select appears to skip the level instantly? I got a MBv2 cable and (backed HSM beta up first) deleted that rubbish and replaced it with lockjaw: the overdose, and I couldn't be happier!. Although I'm yet to find out how to get the backup off the PC (some old compaq windows 98 pc...). Also, the 'newer' GBA development cartridges can be flashed using MBv2 cable and mb.exe as-is so long as SW3 is set to ON. Oh and I found this earlier, never seen it before; http://www.physorg.com/news159694550.html And http://uk.gameboy.ign.com/articles/083/083761p1.html too, I've seen the board and have the game, but using a SNES control pad? Nifty!
I have that prototype too and I remember someone else on the forums mentioned it as well. Flashing "newer" GBA development cartridges sounds much more interesting to me. I have some empty ones and would love to put something on them! Care to share your knowlegde?
Oh... Is it already released? If not I'll take the drive out and access the filesystem from my *nix box and upload it. It's very exciting! I've been trying to for about a year now, the PIC-based flash cables DO NOT WORK at ALL, I made my own and bought one, both are a waste of time (though you cannot backup the cartridges using MBv2 so I backed them up using that cable and the software 'mbload', which took about 4 hours to back up... :/) Anyway, to flash the newer cartridge, (I took the SRAM expansion board out of mine) all you need to do is set SW3 to ON (that's the write protect switch, so once you've programmed, switch it back to OFF so it can't be erased or get bugged). Put it into my GBA, turned it on holding start and select down, put the MBv2 cable (needs to be an official MBv2 cable, took me a whole year to source one) in and using mb.exe as so; 'mb.exe -w 400 -p <romfile.gba>' It should work, you might need to play with the '-w 400' option, 400 worked for me and I didn't really want to go lower because I was happy it worked . Then when it's done, turn it off, put SW3 back to off and try it out. I've got lockjaw the overdose on mine at the moement, might put Reaxion on it in the future (another awesome homebrew game). And actually as this cable really IS so darn hard to get hold of now, I might be able to program some of your cartridges for you if you post them over, I'll flash them and send them back. (I wouldn't charge, well, assuming you didn't have more than 4 of them because it takes a whole to program haha)
Wow, awesome info, thank you very much! I guess I still can't do that because don't own the cable and a PC with a parallel port..:crying:
I'll do them for you. You pay for the post to here and back to your area, supply the .gba files, and I'll program them and post them off if you want?
I don't think that the beta is released (sorry, forgot to answer that in the last post) Very kind offer, maybe I'll ask you someday if I have some spare change for postage. I don't have the money for fun things at the moment.
