So the micro lacks a z80 processor, hence no game boy classic support. However, wiki states that gba games can use the z80 processor if they need. Does this mean there are some gba games that do not play properly on the micro?
Nope i have never heard of any gba game not working on the micro, if they had Nintendo would have mentioned it on their website.
My copy of Mazes of Fate doesn't operate correctly on the GBA Micro or the DS Lite. That doesn't mean every copy of it is completely incompatible, but it's worth mentioning the one case I know about personally. That is obviously the GBA version of the game and not the DS version.
I have a GBM and it worked perfectly with everygame I ever used. The z80 is a CPU, of course, but even if wikipedia says such a thing, i highly doubt that the GBA will use it (because it is very slow if compared with its main CPU...). So I think wikipedia means: the GBA will use it if it needs it. And it needs it when it has to play old Game Boy games.
Far as memory serves me correctly, GBA games can not use the GBC Z80 processor. The reason for this is due to voltage. GBC & GBA run at two different voltage which is why there is the need for the switch in the cart port to set GBC mode when a GB/GBC cart is plugged in.
I've always kinda wanted a GBM (Giant Bunny Machine). It supposedly is much brighter than the GBASP, right? Similar to a DS Lite. That's what I've heard, is it true? Plus it's tiny.
It's got a better screen then the original SP (much brighter). But after the micro came out nintendo re-released the SP with the same screen tech found in the Micro. http://gameboy.ign.com/articles/652/652641p1.html
What GBA can use from the GBC apparently is some sound generation as I recall. But not the CPU. But I'm not an expert on the GBA. But the GBA has a switch that the cartridge casing engages to tell if it should run in GBA or GBC mode. There is no way to switch while the machine is running. There is no access to the other mode from either side.
Huh. I didn't know that. How can you tell the newer GBASP units apart from the older ones? I mean, other than turning it on. Mine is obviously an older one.
Part of why many didn't know about ags 101, was that it ended up mostly a North American release. Some areas for Europe got a limited run though. And never released in Japan AFAIK. I'm not quite sure which model China got for the iQue GBASP.
