I'm in need of a new GBA SP battery but I have a bit of a dilemma. I know that I can buy one from Nintendo, however, Nintendo of Australia told me it's unlikely they'll be able to send Lithium-Ion products to New Zealand (they're still checking for me). I didn't realise this was also a problem between Australia and New Zealand (I thought it mainly affected Japan and the US), but this could be problematic. Now, I'm gunning for a DS battery because I know the case can be modded ever so slightly to fit one in, and they'll be slightly newer, therefore having a longer lifespan. This isn't ideal, however, as DS batteries are still obviously pretty old, but looking for third-party replacements has only led me to all those generic ones that people typically suggest avoiding (and I know how bad they can be from first-hand experience with PSP batteries). So, if anyone has suggestions for third-party batteries that aren't garbage, please let me know. Other than this, I know that DSi batteries are an option. I'm not sure how safe it is to have the battery sitting right on top of the ICs, though (regardless, I'd rather not have them touching), and there's still the problem of importing one and so needing to find a third-party one that isn't crap instead. If anyone can help me with my dilemma, I'd greatly appreciate it. I really want to bring this GBA SP back to life, and having a good source of batteries for the future would be useful, especially since some of my other devices will be needing them sooner rather than later.
Aus post are dicks and won't send them, I can send you one if you want to order from nintendo aus. Postage may be a little higher as I think nintendo charge domestic postage aswell
Either let Liham help you out or go for the DS batteries used. They are older for sure but should still be better than the gba sp
Turns out Nintendo of Australia CAN send me a DS battery from Australia to New Zealand. Thanks for the offer though, LeHaM. I am still curious about the DSi battery and how safe it is, though.
As far as I know, chinese unofficial batteries can be hit or miss. Although they only cost $2-$3, so I would try them.
