hi everybody, i´m looking for the gba sp samus edition and i have seen 2 models. i have the orange and red normal edition (1000 units i think) and the same edition but with the 3 birds logo. is real that there 20 units? is certificate from Nintendo?
I'm not sure on any of the production numbers, but there never was an actual Samus edition GBA SP produced. It was a promotion through Club Nintendo where (for a certain amount of points, obviously) you could ship your existing SP to NOJ and get a new case put on it. The Samus coloring was one edition, as was the metallic lime green color released in the US as the Donkey Kong Country edition in Target stores. As far as the little critters on the bottom of that unit - I'd hazard a guess it's Dachora and the Etecoons. I've never heard of two varieties of the Samus case, though - maybe that was just a decal or something?
i know the normal edition history..but i have a friend that has the logo edition, and he says that there 20 units and it was given away in a lottery from club Nintendo. the one paid 120.000 yen.
thats correct ! 20 of them were randomly customized with the sign. nobody of you guys saw them on yahoo-jp go for insane amounts of money ? you might find this intressting: http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/game/docs/20040531/samus.htm its says 80 units , i have the info that only 20 exist.
yeah, I guess we should all stop buying them and put our money into better places, like stocks and bonds...
Nintendo says 80 units, so I would go with 80. Just check the official Japanese Metroid site for information about this system. All other sources I have state this figure too. Maybe you could share where you have your number from? Would be nice to know... M.
It was not random for everyone. According to the article, the 80 "special" versions were given only to 80 random people that competed in the Time Attack contest. Those 80 also got a free color change. And yes, it runs (or did anyway) between 100,000 and 120,000 yen. Not sure what it's going for these days. Yeah... like old shitty dev equipment that just sits around?
