Hello! A few of you might know that I am working on an article detailing the secrets locked away inside the Gamecube Service Disc 1.0/03. The article is far from over, but it has generated a few questions. Scanning through the .dol files for ASCII strings has proven extremely valuable. Not only have I been able to piece together a software development timeline that dates back to 1998, but device, processor, peripheral and emulator listings have been found as well. Some of this I can identify. Some of it I can't. Below I have listed only the ones that I cannot identify. If you have heard any of these terms before in relation to Gamecube or N64 development, PLEASE PM ME: EXI bus devices: Net Card (different from Broadband adapter, its in the list elsewhere) Stream Hanger Artist Ether IS Viewer (I know this is an N64 dev tool, but its listed with an EXI device ID... so could ahve been used with the 'cube at some point. Info appreciated.) Controller peripheral: N64 Keyboard (actually every N64 device is listed in here, mouse, controller, mic, but if anyone has any info on an N64 keyboard let me know) Console Type: EPPC Arthur EPPC Minnow I have a lot more information here that I have already sorted through, and I'm going to check some of the first kiosk discs to see if they can shed more light for accurate timelines. This service disc is much newer than most of us thought. Stay tuned for the full article... since there is a lot of information to go through here it may take some time to finish, but I've made it my holiday project Thanks all! - Don Komarechka
IS-Viewer: Source: Intelligent Systems website: http://www.intsys.co.jp/tools/gamecube/viewer/index.html Have fun translating!
I know nothing about the service disk but I bought an official Nintendo 64DD Keyboard from Japan last year not sure if that is the keyboard you are referring to in the disk.
Origin of that diagram? Where did that diagram come from? I find it kind of funny that the PC depicted look a heck of a lot like an older Sony VAIO desktop. ~Krelian
