I'm writing an article on GD-R's (Giga Byte Disk Recordable's) and i don't remember some information, i was hoping someone else might have a better memory than i. You can see the article in progress here: http://gamerhistory.com/hardware/gdr.html I'm pretty sure they only ever came in 50 packs, but what did they cost from Sega? I want to say it was $700 per spindle. Does anyone know the original manufacturer? I don't suppose anyone has a spindle sealed in it's original shipping container, do they? Does anyone have a pic of the bottom side of one of these disc's that i can use for my site? It seems i still can't find my open spindle. Credit will of course be given. Just for reference, i only watermark my pictures so that they don't end up in an ebay scam. If anyone wants to use/borrow any of them, just ask and i'll take out the watermarks.
Sure you can ;-) http://www.angelfire.com/linux/segakatana/dcgdrorange_01.html (SegaKatana.com once I do a domain transfer) There was one member by the name of arb226 that was selling a boxed spindle of GD-Rs a while back. He left these pics: http://assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?p=86411#post86411
Also, a single drop of water can "slightly" smear the front label of a GD-R. It happened to one of my discs, forgot to dry my head out the shower...
I dug this one out, it's very high res so you can crop out a decent bit if you like shit I can't remember the html code, but here: www.fazycruck.com/images/gdr.jpg Andy
