GDEMU/GDMENU problems Hi, just got my v5.3 GDEMU. Using it with a SDXC 64GB (fat32) Transcend card. I got some weird issues with it though. I have about 55 or so images on it, all numbered in folders from 01 to 55 with disc.gdi or disc.cdi inside them. The thing is, when I boot up gdmenu v0.2, the "loading" progress-bar appears very briefly, and only my 02-folder is showing up, but is duplicated all the way to 55. So basically, when I boot up, it says loading very quickly, and the dots after loading lasts about 1second, and the screen looks like this: 01 GDMENU 02 Dreamshell 4.0 03 Dreamshell 4.0 04 Dreamshell 4.0 05 Dreamshell 4.0 etc, all the way to 55. However, I can change discs manually with the button on the GDEMU and the correct images will start, but I cant use gdmenu apparently. Anyone seen this before?
CDI is the standard for mil-cd backups and homebrew. Aka CD-Rs with ripped games or homebrew on it. GDI represents the untouched GD-ROM, prior to hacking/cracking/downsampling to fit a cd-r. Before ODE devices, GDI were mainly useful for preservation purposes and emulators, as any game required tinkering to go from a gdi to a burnable image selfbootable on a dreamcast. Now with the ODEs and DreamShell, you can actually play games from GDI directly, as if it was really a gd-rom and not a cd-r. For certain small games, if you got good quality CDI it isn't really worth it getting a GDI to paly on ODEs. e.g. ChuChuRocket on cdi or gdi probably is the same on GDEMU. But for big games like SOA, Shenmue, Alone in the Dark, etc; using GDIs allows for a better experience.
I am happy i have made them easier to access.. but thanks really goes to the guys that took the time to rip them and set a standard...
I have that same issue as peterk initially had. When I put the fw file at the root of my sd-card, put it in locked mode and power on the DC, the activity led doesn't flash rapidly as expected, but steadily and slow, maybe 1s on then 1s off... Any idea? Maybe I should try another card for flashing?
Assuming you renamed the file correctly, I would try another card. I know it doesn't work if you are using an extention cable also. I had to put the card directly into the slot on the board.
