    Hi all,

My Genesis model 1 (non-TMSS unit if that matters) has a faint buzzing sound over composite audio. It's hooked into Logitech external speakers with a subwoofer (this one: https://www.nextgenpcs.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/nextgen-Z623.jpg).

I've tried 2 different power supplies and also another Genesis model 1, with the same problem. Is the a normal byproduct of this setup, or is it the composite cable?

    Thanks!

It's been forever since I used the composite video/mono audio AV cable on my Genesis 1 so I plugged it in to see. I got buzzing on my Sony PVM's built-in speaker when I turned it up just a little.

I also plugged my JBL Pro stereo speakers into the Genesis 1's headphone jack and the buzzing was noticeably more quiet. I really had to turn it up louder to hear it.

To rule out speakers being the issue, I hooked up the mono audio's RCA connector to the same external speakers. Same thing as the PVM speaker.

Just for giggles, I set the console to the PAL Europe region (English/50Hz) and the buzzing was much less than on US mode (English/60Hz).

Let me know if you want me to try the 32X setup as I can do that if you want.

My thoughts: this is a normal byproduct of the Genesis's audio circuit.

I highly recommend grabbing stereo audio from headphone jack instead of mono audio from the DIN connector since you have stereo speakers. It sounds so much better and you hear more sounds. You can even get 3.5mm to RCA Y adapters for dirt cheap in stores and online if needed.

Also, before you ask, you can get Genesis, 32X, and Sega CD audio through it perfectly fine without mixing needed.

Thanks all. I tried the headphone audio and there's no buzzing now.
