http://www.vulcanjedi.com/images/DCP_0030.JPG http://www.vulcanjedi.com/images/DCP_0031.JPG I've seen this sort of thing before for the NES years ago in stores, and there was even a home version made iirc. But I've never seen a Genny/MD one until now.
Really? You've never seen one? You would'd go mad seeing some of the cool stuff Toy 'R' Us had for game demos (including this unit and the one for Nintendos) back in the day (Some still have the stuff!). They had 5 or maybe 6 foot tall Gameboy/demo unit with a 13" or so green screen, and a regular gameboy grafted to the middle. You'd play the real Gameboy, and other people could watch on the 13" screen. The entire demo unit looked like a huge Gameboy. Quite impressive, mad props to anyone with one in their collection. Back to the main topic, I'm currently working out a trade for one of Genesis multi-demo units.
It's for any carts, in the US there was also a licensed retail product that did the same for like 10 carts.
The multi cart loads you could buy looked far better than that. It sat on top of your Mega Drive with slots for up to 10 games. Each game could be selected but pressing the red button under the cart. I had a picture of this once but God knows where it went. Yakumo
Wasn't the commercial US version called "The Video Game Jukebox" or something? I think there may have been a SuperNES version planned as well. I've always wanted one just for the hell of it.
I remember reading about these years ago (the jukebox), but never saw one. A few months back I tried to either find one, or information on it, but had no luck. Glad to hear someone else remembers it too. I remember hearing of the SNES version too.
I can't find any pics or info on these retail (home) units. I can find many pics of NES muti cart store displays though. I remember the NES unit sat on top and it too had a red button under each of the 10carts to select game. It had a ribbon cable that came off and went to an adaptor cart that plugged into the NES cart port. It could be quite a cool project to build one. And make it (and the NES power)operate by remote control. Switching NES games from the comfort of your sofa; the laziness of it all :happyhap:
The retail one was featured in Mean Machines issue 2 or 3, i have it here but no scanner. Its prolly on the mean machines archive but i dunno the address. I know ive contributed greatly now hehe
I'll dig up some pics of the home version. I have a tendency to collect pics, from eBay and forums like these, so I'm pretty sure I have at least one pic. You want pics of the same thing for other consoles? I even have a picture of a version for the Atari 2600.
