Can you take some photos of your soldering job?

I did a similar mod on multiple cxa1145 based devices about 6 years ago. I remember having bad luck with North-American 2N3904 NPN transistors, but things worked well with eropean BC series. I think I used BC548 with great success.

Another difference is that I used amps for both chroma and luma.

Hope this helps, if not, I may crack my old systems open to see how I did it.

I took the original idea from viletim/eviltim: http://www.smspower.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11586

SUCCESS! I swapped my luma and chroma lines, and saw that I was using a 27k resistor, must have misread it. I didn't have a 27ohm so for the time I used a 43ohm, figured it was at least closer. Plugged it in and saw one of the prettiest Sega Genesis pictures I have ever seen!

Thank you so much for all of your help everyone!

Don't forget to insulate the wires. Don't want anything freaky going on.

Once I get that 27ohm resistor, I'm going to thoroughly insulate everything with tape. Thanks!

Glad you got it working! Care to post a photo of the working image? I'm curious as to what (if any) difference a 47ohm vs 27ohm resistor would make.

Not much difference to be seen instantly but that picture quality is pretty superb. Well done.
