There's a YouTube video of a Mega Drive controller that was modded with two different types of clicky/tactile microswitches. It's a simple mod if we can find the part numbers of the two switches used. It uses low-profile switches for the buttons and taller switches for the d-pad, with a dot of epoxy underneath. A better switch could be sourced for the d-pad, since they appear to have been cut down to fit. A blogger did something similar. Since this was done to a 6-button Mega Drive controller, it would probably be the same procedure for Saturn.
