The Genesis / Mega Drive sound software manual, you'll be making some cool tunes in no time. Or just saving this to your hard drive for a rainy day :wink-new: Genesis Sound Software Manual [1992-02-21] Link 1 Genesis Sound Software Manual [1992-02-21] Link 2
Thanks! But neither of these links work for me. Isn't there some place better to host stuff than download sites with fake download buttons and junk ads everywhere? Cheers
Haha, yes it is, I've been working on getting an FTP server online, nearly there. Problem is I use a Mac and use forward slashes in folder names. FTP doesn't like that! I'll post back in a few hours once I start squashing these forward slashes I put in. I'm surprised both links went dead so quick!
Done! A bit quicker than expected, they should be accessible now through here. All the files are under 4. Console Related > Development > Documents & Manuals > RJ Scanned Development Manuals Let me know how you go since it's a very new setup.
The Mega link (the first one) still works fine with ZERO fake ads - you simply download it. If it doesn't work, you must be using a shit browser. *EDIT* What doesn't work is RetroJunkie's FTP: [R] Connected to retrojunkie.net [R] 220---------- Welcome to Pure-FTPd [privsep] [TLS] ---------- [R] 220-You are user number 1 of 50 allowed. [R] 220-Local time is now 05:48. Server port: 21. [R] 220-This is a private system - No anonymous login [R] 220-IPv6 connections are also welcome on this server. [R] 220 You will be disconnected after 15 minutes of inactivity. [R] USER anonymous [R] 331 User anonymous OK. Password required [R] PASS (hidden) [R] 530 Login authentication failed [R] Connection failed
It's firefox. "Your browser does not allow data to be written. Please make sure you use default browser settings." I seriously can't be bothered to try to fix it. They are probably doing some user agent parsing and don't recognise openbsd. Anyway, I already got the file from the ftp server's www interface. I can confirm that direct ftp does not work though.
Interesting! Thanks for the heads up, I'll poke around and see what's misconfigured. Good to see that the http version is working though. I've only been able to the FTP side remotely with http://ftptest.net and it seems to be working according to them. Ahhh problems! I'll have a look on Tuesday when I'm back at work as it is connecting fine locally of course.
The site works fine with Chrome, and they suggest using it to take advantage of all their features. I believe it works in IE, too. Hmm, well I guess if it works in the browser, that's something!
I tried Mega on Safari and it choked pretty bad. I only use it in Chrome, like YouTube because the of features like auto resume on uploads!
man, i'd love to get my hands on this "other manual" that this one talks about that is for FM and PSG sound generation too. It's really interesting to read and see how things worked back in the day. (Plus, being a musician it helps to know the limitations musicians faced back in the day on systems like this if you ever want to create music like it using trackers or VST like VOPM and SN-EMU;SMS/MD PSG emulator <
Here's hoping they eventually turn up too! Maybe another 15-20 years? I suppose it took these ones that long to surface right?
*Thanks! But neither of these links work for me. Isn't there some place better to host stuff than download sites with fake download buttons and junk ads everywhere?* ^^This. Also, I got the Mega link to work for me and I'm not even on a PC, I'm on an Android tablet atm. Soooo yeah, if you can't get it DLed you are definitely doing something wrong!
