Looks like a really cheap MP4 player built into a controler, with all the video features stripped out and just the emulator left
I have one in the mail. I'm going to hold that it's a Radica dieclone (the menu program is actually a genesis ROM.) Ive seen pics of the pcb, it has 64mbit parallel NOR flash rom onboard and a ASIC, nothing else. The menu app must bit bang the SD card (it copies the ROM onto the internal flash memory, screen flickers and it boots from it as if it were a cartridge)
any luck hooking it up to a SEGA SD ehr CD?  Virtua Racing won't run on it though, will it?
i ordered one of these too ... on dealextreme its with free shipping for about 21 us$ and about 23 us$ with a 2nd attachable controller ... so nothing cango wrong
If that's true then with alittle work couldn't you connect it to a real Sega Genesis system and have a cheap SD card ROM loading device? That would be pretty neat.
I have one, it's an emu. Decent, but mono sound. A bit of noise in the video, but it's not a bad item.
I'm not picky, it can be SD or CF. Seems like the ideal cartridge isn't likely all that complicated. It's a shame in a way that Flash cartridges seem to be the dominate way products tend to go. It would be much nicer to have a cartridge with 4 megabytes of SRAM or DRAM, a boot ROM loader, memory mapper, and CF card interface. Atleast in theory it doesn't seem that complicated. I'm certain that most people would prefer it over a typical Flash Cartridge.
i received my unit this week... anyone knows what SD card it takes ?? what file or name format must the roms have to be used ??? all i get from the SD card is -> HARD ERROR
You may need to format the card to a certain format like FAT16 or FAT32 or something. I imagine it expects ROMs to be in standard BIN format.
recording of what `? when playing the internal sonic rom ... the display of rings and points is messed up (its not at the correct screen position)
Video would be nice of any errors; between your description, the sound from the demo video, and ASSEMbler, sounds like poor emulation it is.
