I just bought something from Germany and only just now realised that I know nothing about their power supplies. I assume it's going to be 220v? But what kind of plug can I use, will a shaver adaptor do the trick (works ok on some other Euro gear).

If not, what do I need? I'm in the UK

Funkstar it is not a German plug, since I have the same type too, but yes they are 220 volts, of what I know anyway .

So most of Europe has the two prong, 220v scheme?

    Good news for me :-D

the holes looks like a "pig nose plug", but not all of Europe has the "PNP" thing, since Italy has some other funky plug holes.

the holes you put the plug into looks like a pig nose in some ways, but not all.

I think the UK runs at 230V actually, but I doubt this will do much harm (anybody know different?).

Actually the parts if Italy I have seen (Northern) us the PNP you describe ;-)

As a side note, anyone importing JAP/Amer hardware to the UK, DO NOT buy your step down convertor from Maplin. I've gone through three of the £10 model and 2 £20 model. They are the biggest load of shit, each one lasts maybe 2 weeks of use.

[edit] after seeing the pic, I'm definately sure I can use the 'Shaver Adaptor'.

It will be fine. There is no real difference, all devices that run on mains should have tolerances below and above 230V.
