Sup, this is no spam guys, Gamefly has a promo that lets you get a Wii for just $50. Here's how it works: gamefly will give you either a free Wii or one free year of service if you get five of your friends to sign up for a month of service. You could just give the subscription money ($10) to 5 of your friends (thats the $50 I was talking about) and tell them to subscribe to the lowest plan available, then you get a Wii and they get free Gamefly for a month. Its a pretty cool deal for those of us that dont have a Wii yet, but on the other side I wouldnt be surprised if gamefly is already out of wii stock and you only get the 1 year subscription. Anyway, here's the link
"Sorry this site is experiencing technical difficulties. Please try again later." Gees, that was fast.
It seems all gamers on the intertubes went there at the same time... Too bad most of them dont have that many friends to subscribe:lol:
Businesses that require people to recruit others (involving money) just to obtain an item or service, similar to "Pyramid Schemes."
Exactly ! Pyramid Games/Pyramid Schemes are the same thing. Just like alot of other stuff. I could mention, but I prefer not to.
This is a pretty benign pyramid, to the extent that it is one at all. It doesn't involve any serious cash if you do it right (there are alternatives to this one that involve no cash at all, they just require more friends who are willing to screw around registering and cancelling deals on your behalf), and it doesn't extend beyond the initial 5+1 group. Certainly there's no cash flow back up the chain, which is what a typical pyramid scam does. Not something I'd ever get around to doing, but certainly nothing to get angry about.
That is not up to you to decide if it IS certainly not something I should get angry about, since I have hated pyramid schemes/games etc. For as long as I remember, so it is the same like when you were a kid, and got a chain letter. I always knew it was bollocks, so I just threw it out. So to me any kind of that kind of stuff is something I don´t like, ok ?
It's up to you whether you let it anger you or not, I'm just saying it's a bit daft since 1/ you could just ignore it, it's not like they've sent a letter to you about it, and 2/ it's really not that evil a deal. Nobody is losing their life savings. But go ahead, any excuse to throw a fit about something I guess. I'll chalk this up as another of the Great Injustices that you love to get fired up about.
I'm confused. They clearly say your friends must sign up and pay for 2 months and the cheapest plan is 15$. So that's like $150 of GameFly plus your own so more than 180$. Still cheaper than buying a Wii I guess but it's not superb deal like 50$.
It was for 1 month, I think they noticed a trend or surge in people signing up and increased it so it wasn't so much of a bargain...
Indeed, although I dont understand why the still have the promo up, since the economics behind this makes no sense... Cuz you know, is obvious that 99% of the subscribers will jump in just for the free Wii and wont stay longer than the minimum required, thus the investment made by gamefly has almost no chances to be recovered.
