If you get any prepaid phone in Japan, get softbank. With softbank prepaid you can send e-mail, with AU just c-mail. I'm stuck with AU as my Japanese mother didn't know any better and it's annoying as shit.

What do you mean transfered? And you mean the SIM/account gets cancelled, not the phone..

Yeah, you should be able to get a charger easily in any Y100 shop or combini.

a 100Y shop that sounds cool.
    uhm

    here is my issue,
im trying to get a phone FROM japan to Canada.
and i know it was unlocked and working in north america.
but the thing is a charger is needed.
    last one is broken
    any tips or advice?
    ( Phone model W53H)

    on a side note:
if your phone is "canceled" what i think is not understood is that means its just a carrier locked phone, that is why we have unlocking software i THINK that would work wouldn't it?

A 4,000 yen device (and cutting the corner off of your Sim card) can apparently make short work of that.

As per Jamtex, you should look into a generic AU charger. Battery based ones are like 600 yen in any convenient store. There are also USB ones, but note that some phones have a nice, retarded feature that requires you to install their software (Softbank, for one) to charge via USB. Hooking it up to a Linux box in my case worked w/o the software though.

You could try a Yahoo Japan deputy service.

About 8000 Yen, although they can be a pain to find unless you go to larger branches of Softbank, as most of the normal sized ones don't sell them and convience stores generally stock about 2 and are frequently sold out...

Go to Haraujuku. It's huge. They can't not have it, and they definitely have English speaking staff (gaijin, even).

Went and to look for info at AU's site about pre-paid phones and looks like its also sold out in every shop nationwide http://www.au.kddi.com/english/prepaid/list.html

this is starting to look fishy, all the pre-paid services misteriously sold out in every single shop

Well there is Softbank too which allows email so is better then the Au service.

Prepaid phones are tricky to find, they do seemed to have got a bit more strict with the distribution of them.
