So I been thinking about getting that new dualcore Fire tablet since at $200 its pretty cheap and it has the same specs from the $400 blackberry tablet. Plus now that google released the ICS theres gonna be a CM9 mod for it. Thing is I already had a Nook which I rooted and got CM7 on it, and while it was good it wasnt great either, it had some bugs that were never fixed, like the wifi going out for no reason, and the case was kinda flimsy I havent seen the fire yet but when shown the press said it was well made and felt solid, but now that the production version was sent to reviewers there are complaints about cheap shitty chargers and loose USB ports So basically, fuck it, I dont know what to do Any ideas?
I have been looking at the Fire myself mate but sadly theirs no release date for the UK, has some very good reviews but sadly most i have read said it doesnt match up the iPad, not surprising as its half the price but at least your not locked into Apple products which is one of the reasons i hated having an iPod and being locked into using iTunes etc for the price if i was in the USA i would definitely be giving it a go
Dude can't you import one? I know I guy in brazil who got one in the mail He had to pay taxes but still it was cheaper than anything there I didnt like how some say it sucks at HD video compared with the new nook, even though both have the same OMAP chip which BTW has the same GPU from the ipad2 and the latest iphone My guess is the 512 of RAM on the fire compared to the 1gb in the new nook, but then again the ipad2 has 512 too. This would be much easier if the new nook had a better case instead of the same old crap one in another color
The video is the deal-breaker for me (until I find out more). I download mostly 720p mkv videos. Until there's a painless way to just load them and watch, any tablet seems like more work than it's worth.
Yeah i could import one but their may be issues with accessing the App store etc (or whatever Amazons equivalent is called) so have been holding off
Blackberry playbooks are selling in Canada for $199 for 16gb, $299 for 32gb, and $399 for 64gb. That's after a $300 off instant-savings.
Also, the current version of Amazon Silk Web Browser is supposedly slow, clunky and has serious privacy concerns. http://articles.businessinsider.com/2011-11-18/tech/30413991_1_browser-jeff-bezos-amazon
