So guys i have been collecting for about 3 years, and i allways knew that collect retro games in my country is hard has hell (Portugal), but still in my first year i was able to get some decent games and consoles for good prices, but as time went on i saw that for example colecting NES, SNES, is just impossible in my contry right now a NES console is worth 50€ and games are in general 10€ each, more or less the same goes for the SNES, so i turned into my childhood console the Sega Mega Drive, now sega was big in Portugal, even the saturn sold like crazy here, and sega even had a "Special Waranty program" going on, anyway, getting mega drive games was 2 years ago relatively easy, but since last year 2010 things started to go crazy, the number of games rised, and prices also rised, i dont see the logic in that but anyway, i started to see cartridge only games like sonic 1 for 3€ plus shipping, and that just started to piss me off but i thought "Well maybe is just temporary, prices allover the world are going down", But NOOOO, it just keeped getting worse and worse, i got the point were i would buy the games on UK, even with the £ beeing higher than € and it was cheaper. YES, buying from the UK with the £ higher value than € was cheaper then buying directly in my own country. Now by then i was very pissed of about all this but a few days back i just got a kick in the ass.

"ok lets see what do we have here for sale, bunch of cr**p, bunch of cr**p and ohh shaq fu, 10€, 12€ 15€ YES SHAQ FU FOR 15€ THAT JUST BLEW ME AWAY, and its allover the trading sites, i cant buy a game for under 5€ its now impossible. All of this is just making me consider collecting games, im not rich and im in collage so i dont have a steady income, but i love Mega drive but this is just getting out of hand.

Sorry about this post guys i just had to get this out of my chest.

Portugal is PAL right? Order your games from eBay UK or FR or something. They should be decently priced. and shipping probably wont = the amount the games are in Portugal.

Yeah the Retroscene in Europe is in the UK, so I'd order my things from there pretty much what my man from Bradford said

Mega drive stuff in the UK is dirt cheap. Can pick up loose working consoles for £3 most of the time. I've seen a super nintendo at bootsales and the like maybe once. Seems like nintendo really weren't popular here.

In the States, I'm starting to see bootleg Genesis cartridges pop up everywhere. Mostly they're fake rares, like Toejam and Earl, or Shadowrun. And these are actual fakes and not generally Majesco re-releases. As you can imagine, this messes up pricing and makes all Genesis cartridges seem more valuable than they are, even in just one store. I'm making it a point to collect carts in boxes with manuals, so that I have an opportunity to inspect the whole package and make sure everything inside is the real deal.

In the UK Sega ruled with the Master System and Mega Drive. It was funny because on American TV they always went on about Nintendo but in the UK it was all about Sega. Mega Drive had a following to what the PlayStation had. Sad how Sega fucked it all up with poor Mega CD and 32X suport. If they had done good by those systems the Saturn would have been a massive hit too. Honestly, Sega really were big in the days of the Mega Drive in UK

There's no hiding I'm jealous of that. Let me tell you. It is not fun stuck here in Genesis-land, watching from the outside how much heavy praise Mega Drive gets.

@lun well US also has many good things i tell you it has more oportunities than certain countries in europe, my case is one of then, and some games are easily found there, example, Contra Hard corps, TMNT hyperstone heist, and others.

But there is no denial UK is the king i still say that this comercial is the best comercial ever
