Hi well, i got a photoplay machine that had the motherboard broken, so i got another board and managed to get the game running, the problem is that i am getting a curious gfx issue, i tried two different computers with different gfx cards (ati and nvidia) Anyone has an idea about what may be causing this ? I remember seeing this issue before, but i cant remember where ...
Normally with arcade PC hardware the software is specifically set up for the motherboard so that changing a motherboard can cause ports to change and issues. USB devices that are not signed will install on different USB hub ports. I Assume that you do have the security dongle attached as well as any other hardware that should be attached? You can buy replacement motherboards and upgrades from funworld (www.photoplay.com) but you are looking at a least 100 euros.
first : you cant buy replacement boards from them anymore seccond : when they sold those, those were arround 600 euros third : if you boot the board without the dongle, you got a dongle error
I am not sure what revision motherboard you have but reading their website it does seem they do offer upgrades and replacements, did you check that with them? They do have a technical help email address. However what i said about the motherboard hardware is true, certain games will only work with certain hardware to stop piracy and unofficial upgrades or repairs. The Midway Vegas board for example has a 3DFX graphics card that has a security chip on it so you cant just replace it with a OEM card even if it was the same consumer model graphics card.
