I just thought I'd let you guys know that I bought Sonic Rush about 4 days ago, and it, by far, is the best Sonic game I've played since Sonic 2. Sega (or rather the Sonic Team) finally got it right, and it's absolutely great. There aren't many extras, or a great story behind the game, but it's a blast to play and just pure fun. It might be the best handheld game I've ever played, literally.
I'll agree that it's very nice and a blast to play. I personally wouldn't even put it above S3&K though, as there are too many bottemless pits in a few levels and the "hang gliding" in part in a level is completely unnecessary. The overall feel is great though and most of the boss battles are exactly how they should be done when in 3D. Plus the soundtrack (songs by Hideki Naganuma) has really grown on me. Too bad the CD's only avaible from Sega Direct in Japan.
the game does feel right. On the GB advanced there was something missing... I'm still only on level two so can't comment much on level design, but I remember old sonics having some great later levels e.g lava level sonic & knuckles
The game is actualy by dimps (same who did the gba games). I made the same mistake in thinking sonic team did this version. Anyways yes they finaly got it right for a change. I still hale sonic 1-3 better then this game but this one atleast is amost as good as them vs the crap gba ones. The only issues still left is too may bottomless pits.
I picked up SR on release day. I too found the amount of bottomless pits irritating, but the 3D boss battles more than made up for it in my opinion.
Who actually buy's a DS? Nintendo is pulling the oldest trick in the book and many people are falling for it
IMO mostly nintendo fanboys & soccer moms. I still prefer my PSP for gaming over my DS (I have one since I am a DS/GBA developer). Also as a coder I UNGODLY favor the PSP for its raw power and better pipeline (god who in their right mind gives a system fixed polygon list/vertex memory (enough for 2k poly at max) and only let it be flushed every vsync. GGGGRRRRR).
Is someone trying to fufill a childhood dream or something by releasing that?More power to them. On topic:Sonic Rush is the best Sonic game since Sonic 3.
some one that prefers good games over eye candy? seriously, i sold my psp and bought me a ds with a bunch of games and i could not be happier.ong:
Yeah at the moment my DS is getting more of a workout than the psp. I have 5 games I have yet to play properly for it, I'm officialy into it. It still gets me vaguelly excited. I mainly watch UMD on my psp when I take a bath at the moment!
DS has Mario Kart, Sonic Rush, and Mario & Luigi Partners in Time which alone totally eclipse any game on the PSP right now. All my PSP is good for these days are the emulators and roms. I have Nfs, Ridge Racer, NFL Street, SSX, Death Jr, Tony Hawk, and Battlefield 2 for the PSP and none of them lasted more than an hour for me. When I want to play something on a portable I'm picking up my DS more and more and playing those 3 games listed on top, as well as Mario 64. They are just a boat load of fun.
I think this needs to be spun off to a poll... http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7737
*Screams* NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Don't drop it! Seriously, I get freaked out whenever I hear something like this involving a PSP. The new commercial on TV where the "hip kids" are tossing around the PSP makes me cringe when I see it. Back on topic, I'm glad to hear that Sonic Rush is good. I was worried for a while, but now I think I'll go out and buy it. ^_^
