This is one amazing collection. I really liked your japanese Gamecube games and your NeoGeo and PC-Engine collection.
I think this was a card holding the first or second version of the Power VR chipset, the one supposed to be running the elusive PC version of Rave Racer (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/sho...ion-of-Rave-Racer-for-first-gen-PowerVR-cards) Some say Rave Racer was even planned for the PC-FX via a rumoured 3d adapter and once the PC-FX was canned all the work for the PC-FX 3d extension went into that card. I would certainly take this with a pinch of salt though
Wow, that's interesting. I heard of Rave Racer, but wasn't aware that there is a connection to NEC. So this "PC 3D Engine" is not related to the PC-Engine but just called because NEC's products were generally called "PC-something" back then?
Quite possibly, I did some research on that a long time ago, there were a number of japanese websites talking about this subject, need to see if I can dig out anything. I think the relationship between that card and the pc-fx is rather thin, purely because the 3d chip on the pc-fxga was quite weak to run anything like rave racer and was co-made by hudson soft and nec. The chip on this card is designed by imagination and produced by Nec. So pc engine 3d is probably indeed pure marketing.
