Glucoboy for Gameboy is this the rarest game/accessory for GameBoy Advance ???

I believe this game/ medical device is exceptionally rare !!! it was made in Australia in 2007 and sold for the really high price of $299 that is a fair bit of money ! I don't think this sold that well at all i have tried to buy one through its website which seems permanently disabled ! so no luck there ! no luck on Ebay either ! and i have contacted the Diabetes Association of Australia they said it has been discontinued for years and they have none in stock for a long time the games on it appear undumped thus far ! this is a really difficult to track Gameboy item that many people don't know about


facts was released in Australia on World Diabetes day in 2007 in Chemist and Pharmacies

retailed for $299 dollars

Blood Glucose meter compatible with GBA and DS

has 2 full games and a mini arcade probably never been dumped on the internet due to how unknown this device is !

the website for it is disabled so no online purchase can be made and it is discontinued from Pharmacies and Chemist in Australia

not currently on ebay in either of the for sale or completed listings

and is not well documented on the internet heck even Wikipedia does not mention it !

 

is the GBA customized too? it has something strange to it...

I somewhat recall seeing this somewhere as a way to get diabetic kids to regularly check their blood sugar levels. Games as a reward makes for a strong positive reinforcement and thus compliance.

There are a few other 3rd party creations like this floating around like a PDA cartridge for the GB and I want to say "Phreak Boy" for the GBC.

 

I always wanted one of these for actual legitimate use.

 

I saw them for sale here in the US maybe a year ago at a Walgreens. They didn't cost $299. I wanted to get one, but I have no use for it.

 

i live in australia and never heard of or seen one ill keep a look out at second hand shops and see if i can dig one up

 

The used to sell these at Target(USA). I never picked one up and haven't seen one in years.

 

That would be the Bayer Didget same creator but for the DS only and the America/ UK market

Glucoboy cannot be found easy this one can

 

I heard of PDA from Assembler but what is Phreak boy ???

started a wikipedia entry on this =P well its now listed in the unofficial gba accessories part now but not a very detailed entry it just gets to the point for what it is for

 

If Glucoboy is anything to come by then quite possibly these will become mega rare just like the same companies Glucoboy ! good thing at least 2 of these are now in collectors hands sealed
