Well, its official. GManWillis never did have Resident Evil 1.5 We found out from a 100% reliable source. He has now been banned from ASSEMblergames. We are very sorry for the people that were scammed but at least the truth is now in the open. That's the best we can do.

That's cool, but did we find out if that other guy sent him real or fake isos? He mentioned that the files he sent to gman were useless as betas, so he was scamming as well.

edit: also, did he admit that he doesn't have RE1.5 or someone else just determined it for him? Even if the game is only handed out to a select few right now (which he is not part of), it's not impossible that he still had access to it. I recall Starfox 2 was leaked that way...

 

I'm assuming they found enough evidence to see that Gboy was the lone scammer or they would have mentioned the other guy also attempted to scam, correct?

Whatever. If he really does have it and was desperate to prove so(and also to get back for being banned), he'd possibly leak them now. Well, maybe =p

I can't really say who gave us the information but let's just say it is good info. As for the metal gear guy well, we don't know about him. W'll probably ban him too if no proof of his protos being legit is given.

So that he got an unusable rar archive in return, sounds fair to me.

I still wonder how you prove that one does not have a file. I mean the only possible way you could know that is if the archive was released in a highly controlled manner, but even then once the files leave the initial releaser, there's absolutely no way to track it anymore. And, there is still the matter of obtaining it without the consent of those who really have it, it wouldn't be a first for a highly sought after prototype to get literally leaked.

 

You have a point but I think in this case we have to work on trust. I went out of my way to sort this mess out so I had to be sure and understand what I was told. The group who are dealing in this "official" 1.5 release are very close and would not leak the beta. Again we are talking about trust and J believe what was told to be true. Add the past of Gman and all of his excuses not to provide proof of owning 1.5 and I'd say we had a pretty much closed case. Now to get to the bottom of the other guys tale.

Unban me, or suffer the consequence of having each and every subsidiary forum, spammed, followed by a direct Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) that will ultimately force ASSEMblerGames to remain shutdown until I cease attack.

I just don't like relying on trust when the last topic was literally a witch hunt, with personal info flying around, and the board administration jumping in with "lol dis gun be good" gifs. The entire matter was handled pretty unprofessionally.

By "leak" I don't mean release it prematurely on purpose, but more like using social engineering or software bugs to get access to the files by a third party. It is not that far fetched: starfox 2 was stolen from romar the same way, a decade ago. Though that was by a guy who did it to release it then and there, not to hoard it further. Of course it is somewhat far fetched, but not impossible, and it wouldn't be the first time to happen with prototypes.

 

I'd imagine it's very simple to see if GManWillis does have the 1.5 beta, simply get him to send it (if he has it) to someone who (a) can confirm it's authenticity, and (b) already has it (so that by sending it to them, GMan Willis is not spreading it to someone who doesn't have it). If he sends it, and it's genuine then of course he has the beta. If he refuses to send it, then he surely does not have it, as otherwise why refuse, given that his reputation and profile here are at stake?

 

Hehe i already see this thread go again into a witch hunt. At the end it doesnt matter who haves which proto..let it be as it is.. Its already happend and thats it!

 

Gman seems to think I'm out to get him for some reason. Not true at all. His own actions for not give any proof what so ever to owning Resident Evil 1.5 and his past, plus what I was told all make him look like he was trying to scam. And yes its quite possible that the MGS betas were fake (that should be cleared up soon) and if they were then another banning is on the way.

I'm not here to take sides, I'm not here to kiss ass. I'm here to keep a forum I've been part of for almost 15 years free from scum. The type of people who lay on threats when they don't agree with actions taken against them and type them on a public forum where they can be saved and used for prosecution. Not very cleaver, you know.
