I've read rumors that this game was localized for the NA market and cancelled at the last second, and that there may in fact be review copies in existence.

Can anyone confirm this one way or other? I know the (J) game is quite playable without reading Japanese, I'm just interested to know if any other changes were made.

I only know this because of the AVGN review of Godzilla. Watch the video and he should show you the NP issue.

What? This game wasn't released commercially? I swore this game is pirated to heck and back by the ROM being being copied by copier (Super UFO and the likes).

I have played this game extensively when I was playing it on a copier. But sadly I do not have experience playing the Japanese version so I have no knowledge of the difference between the Japanese the US versions.

An old pirate translation maybe. The Japanese version is unmistakable. Its title logo appears in Japanese within seconds.

I've wondered the same thing for years..but it would appear such a thing never made it out, if it in fact ever existed. The monster names appear in English (during battles) in the Japanese version, so there's no way to know if that photo in Nintendo Power was from a translated copy or not.
