Same with Xbox controllers and the chrome series stuff. Without using real gold, what method do cheap toys and fake jewelry use to get that chrome effect? Cheapest method a friend could find was $100 with real gold plating, but real gold on a car isn't a good idea together it'd be $200. Curious what avenues I could go down to get some badges done since they're ABS plastic. Anyone had similar ABS items chromed or gold chromed?
I don't know if this helps, but I found this company that sells chrome sprays and films as well as other kind of painting effects that may do the trick. Hope it is useful. (Some of their products) Spoiler: Stretch Chrome Website Spoiler: Killer Chrome Website
Ah that stuff is similar to tint or vinyl wrapping. They're good for large surfaces but small areas like badges might be difficult to do, considering most of them require heat to stretch. That is a likely a solution though that I never thought of.
The highest quality and most expensive option would be to check with someone who does collision repair. I recently had my street bike painted. All the fairings are ABS. If you find someone who regularly paints motorcycles they should know the best option.
