I saw this in Mandrake the other day and was wondering why it was so expensive. I know that there is a preview cart that comes in a plain white box with a bit of text on it however I've never seen this Gold box version. Does anyone have any info on it?

This the V-Jump version of Chrono Trigger you had to win in a contest prize. The cart isn't gold at all!
I own it,as well as V-Jump Tengai Makyo Zero version (way rarer and expensive)

So only the box is different? man, why pay such a stupid price for a different box? I can understand if the cart was gold or better still then game had a slightly altered title screen but just the box?

The box and sticker. Different serial numbers too, and IIRC, V-Jump logo on manual too.

Why Kizuna Encounter is worth 10000€, when Fu'un Super Tag Battle is worth 400€?
"why pay such a stupid price for a different box?" :)

I didn't know you were that close to Kokura, Yakumo! Or is this not in the city proper?

When passing through in the Kyushu Express (man, what a train!) I had a short glance at Kokura, I must say it looked like one of the ugliest cities I had ever seen. I didnt see too much of it and the bad weather might've been worsening it, though.

I live in Shimonoseki which is in Honshu but it only takes 30 minutes on the train from my house to Kokura. Actually I work in Tobata (Next to Kokura) which is even more of a shit hole than Kokura. You are right though, some parts of Kokura are really ugly. Too many arse holes as well. They never bother you but they are there, if you know what I mean.

Do you mean the sticker on the front of the cartridge?I can't see any differences with the original one on my copy. Are you sure about that?
It's important because if you're right, that means that I have been screwed :-/

Anyways,I've just checked the manual and there is no V-jump logo on it.I've always thought that the only difference with the original one was the box indeed.

Right,i'm sorry...just the box differs by its color, and the VJump marking

Unlike Far East of Eden Zero VJump Version or Magical Drop 2 Special version, where the box AND sticker differs, AND serial number as well.

I think Tengai Makyou Zero game was limited to 200 pieces and Chrono Trigger V Jump Version 2,000 pieces.

I can confirm these numbers since I own the lottery ads for both titles.

Tengai Makyou Zero Jump No Shou (200)
    Chrono Trigger V Jump (2000)

The latter one was a huge disappointment for me when I grabbed a copy in Japan in 2004. Only the outer package differs. Everything else as well as the game contents are identical to the regular release of the game. It's indeed just about the box...:crying:

Anyway, it is a collectors item and hard to come by.

They gave out 2000 copies in a lottery draw in Japanese VJump manga magazine. Contest was before release, but winners got the copies AT release day (or shortly after because of postal delays). Remember, it is not a sample version nor a demo cart.

There are NO ingame differences compared with the retail edition.

VJump is famous for such lotteries. They often did it and still do, especially when it comes to Nintendo, Enix and Square products.

Funny to know that there are 10 times more CT V-jump version than Tengai 0 jump version whereas you see the second one more often to sale.In term of price it's not the same thing of course.

Anybody has the letter which was sent with the CT anyways?I will really appreciate to see what was written on it.
