I collect first person shooters, and I own, or at least have played, almost every FPS for the Windows PC, N64, original XBox, PS2, Gamecube, XBox 360, and PS3. But what FPSs are on other machines but not on the machines own, or are better on a machine that I don't (yet) own, please? I'm also thinking of getting a Sega console, and an Atari console, as I'd like to have a console by every major console company, and for Atari I'll probably get a Jaguar, as I want to play Alien vs. Predator. I'm very curious to play AvP on the Jaguar, I love the PC version, released in 2000, and AvP 2 on the PC is very good too, but every AvP game after that has been very disappointing, but AvP 2000 is excellent. Plus the Jaguar has Iron Soldier 1 and 2, and even though I'm not a huge mech fan, these two seem to be popular. Other than those, Doom, and Wolfenstein 3D, does the Jaguar have any more FPSs? I've heard that Powerslave/Exhumed is better on the Sega Saturn than the PC, is this true? And can you get a joypad for the Saturn (and Jaguar) that has an analogue stick for aiming? I don't remember playing any FPS on the Dreamcast that wasn't on the PC (Unreal Tournament, Quake 3, Soldier of Fortune (can't remember if it was SOF1 or 2), Rainbow Six, etc), are there any good FPSs on the Dreamcast that aren't on my current machines? Also, what good DOS FPSs are there? I bought my first PC in 1996, so I missed most of the DOS years. I have played Doom 1 and 2, Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior 3D, Quake (I'm sure that was DOS?), Alien Trilogy, System Shock (more of a FPS/RPG, but excellent), Dark Forces, Blood, Powerslave/Exhumed, Wolfenstein 3D, etc, but please list any good ones that I've missed. And are games like the Marathon games, Redneck Rampage, Outlaws, Hexen, Heretic, etc, still worth playing? Thanks for any answers.
Hexen is definitely still worth playing. Redneck Rampage was decent, If you wanna go really old then download Blake Stone. Its made with the Wolfenstein 3d engine, and is still one of my favorite shooters. The original Rise of the Triad is worth trying out also.
Blake Stone I enjoyed when I was younger. Redneck Rampage is actually decent, uses the Duke 3D engine and was designed alright. I never beat the Marathon games, but I did enjoy them - I got pretty far in most of them but got sidetracked and never finished it (that was about 2 years ago).
Timeplitters 2 is one of my all time favorite FPS for local multi-player. Has a ton of characters, weapons, map, map editor. Pretty damn fun! Although I haven't played it in years.
TS2 is extremely good. David Doak & Free Radical were always good about jamming their games with a bunch of content, and TS2 is no exception. TS: Future Perfect has even more content for the price you're paying. Shame that Haze ended up so poorly. You've probably tried it already, but if you haven't check out Darkwatch. Very cool FPS.
