I know that this has been discussed before, but I don't think it has all been collected in a single thread. What good, Japan-only Wii games are there?
a good party game is let's tap and has a friiggin addictive soundtrack. Try it out and tell me the results. Also a funny japanese Wii Ware is Muscle march. XD
Let's Tap ain't Japanese exclusive, in fact it's already out everywhere else. Tatsunoko vs. Capcom hasn't been mentioned yet. Sure, it's coming out in other regions, but you can get the Japanese version now.
OK, it's not Japanese buy you've got to get Ghostbusters!! It's fantastic! Now, many people will be very quick to slag of the Wii version due to it's cartoon looks but just wait a moment before you do. The Wii version may not have the fantastic looks of the 360 or even the lesser but still good PS3 but what it does have is a pure fantasy feel to it as in the Real Ghostbusters cartoon from the 80's. With the addition of real character voices it all comes together very well. So well in fact that you really start to enjoy the visuals and forget the fact that there are more film like versions out there. I'll even go as far as saying that the character's voices seem to go better with the cartoon look than the real deal. Well, apart from Bill Murray. What was he doing? Everyone did a great job at voice acting but Bill sounds more like Garfeild than Peter Vankmen. So how does the Wii version play? In my opinion it's more fun to play than the 360 / PS3 version (I've played the 360 one quite a bit) simply due to the use of the Wii remote. There's just something magical about actually pointing the remote at the ghost in order to capture it, then slamming it around the room. The feeling is so much more natural than using a conventional pad. Movement around the areas is also nice. The numchuck moves you around while the Wii remote turns you in the direction that you want to see. The only down side is that when you move the Wii remote off screen, your character starts to spin for a second. No big deal though to be honest. I'm now 60 odd % in to the game with no regrets so far. Sure, the visuals aren't as good as the other versions but they are a far cry from being awful. A few low resolution textures here and there and a few low polygon built areas but overall it's quite a pretty looking Wii game. One of the great things about the 360 version is the ability to blow the crap out of everything, thankfully that's all in the Wii version as well with some pretty stunning results! Fans of the Ghostbusters movies will love this version of the game for sure. Even if you're not a Ghostbusters fan you'll still get quite a bit of enjoyment out of this title. Well worth the 38 USD I spent on it plus 19 USD shipping to Japan. God knows if it will ever get a Japanese release, probably not but those of you with Japanese Wiis and have installed the softmod will be happy to know that this and Indiana Jones will work with Geko 1.9 Yakumo PS: As for an exclusive Japanese Wii games, well there's been fuck all released in Japan worth buying in the last 3 months! Everything I've bought has been a US import. Juon is out in a month though which I'll buy for sure and a New Pop'n Music game is coming in August but I'm afraid it may be stupid dumb motion controls only since there's no mention of an official Pop'n Music board for it. I pray that there will be. As sad as it may sound, I actually like the Pop'n Music games.
Im afraid Konami decided it would be far too sensible to make it a proper version so they instead dumbed it down to the wii controls so theres no proper controller coming for it, hell it dosent even have 9 button mode from the screens i have seen. Bet the track selection ends up been all piss easy kiddy stuff instead of the arcade tracks, why did you decide to mess with it konami? WHY!!! As for jpn exclusives, taiko no tatsujin wii & captain rainbow are very good. Oh & theres a densha de go shinkansen version for wii if your into odd stuff. Apart from that theres not huge amounts of jpn only stuff this time round as even the obscure stuff seems to be getting released in the west.
Oboro Muramasa is the last "japan-only" game i played on my Wii,in April..i LOVED it. 2d Graphics at its peak on Wii. But i think it's coming finally out this summer in US..?
SHIT, the idiots! Well, they've lost my money and I'm sure a hell of a lot of other people's money as well. How F*ing stupid can you get! Sometimes I just don't understand the thinking at Konami. Yakumo
Pop'n Music isn't meant to be played at home anyway. I have the DC version but after spending considerable time playing it in the arcade I couldn't bring myself to like it. Unless you fork out for the ASC, it's not worth it imo.
Taken from Kotaku "Poppy rhythm game spin-off Pop'n Music has had more than a dozen arcade and console releases in Japan, but Konami of America hasn't seen fit to release the game stateside. Until today, that is. Pop'n Music is getting its first North American release with the Wii version, simply titled Pop'n Music. Konami is leaving the custom (and pricey) Pop'n Music controller at home, it seems, as the version designed for the Wii will utilize the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. Expect co-op and battle multiplayer modes, as well as Mii integration, when Pop'n Music ships for the Wii this Fall."" Konami are pretty crap nowdays to be honest, least Namco made an effort when they brought taiko to the the wii they made it a decent version & made the tatacon for the wii too. Konami's effort screams cheap cash in, plus they are using the pay for dlc symbol on the box, so expect about a handfull of boring songs & be expected to pay for the good tracks.
It's not like Pop'n Music is any fun with just 5 buttons, and I doubt you can accurately play 9 buttons with the wiimote/nunchuck.
Isn't Mobile Suit Gundam: MS Sensen 0079 pretty good with the Wiimote. Also, why wasn't it released in the US. I remember hearing for months that it would be and then in the end nothing.
@ Yakumo: Thanks bro! I was not really intending on playing the Wii version of Ghostbusters, because the 360 version looks so pretty compared to the screens i seen of the Wii version, but I took your advice and i must say this game is one the most fun ive played in years! Thanks again.
Let's Tap is already on the american and european market. Oboro Muramasha (which is a must for all Wii owners) will be released on USA at winter 2009 and Tatsunoko Vs Capcom got the green light for an american release, as well (they haven't announce when). From japan-only games for Wii I recommend you Pole's Big Adventure (a hilarious, crazy, brand new 8-bit WiiWare platform by Sega with lots of parodies like the Super Mario Bros like castles at the end of each stage) and MuscleMarch (a bizarre and addictive arcade WiiWare game by Bandai Namco).
You're welcome. It really is a good games, isn't it! I finished it last night and just in time too because the Conduit came today
Thats funny, thats the next game i was gonna get when i finish Ghostbusters ( And Resident Evil 2 for the 100000000th time.:icon_bigg). How is it? It looks pretty sick.
Feel Plus (the developer of Lost Odyssey) is making some sort of horror game for the Wii now (though I have no idea what its name is): http://www.feelplus.jp/works4.html If anything could make me buy another Wii, it would be this game coming stateside. But... doubt that will happen... so life goes on.
The Conduit is very nice. Sop many graphical effects not seen on a Wii before plus it runs very smooth although only at 30fps but it is solid. I'm very happy with it so far. Controls are beautiful too plus you can customize them to your liking. That's Juon, mate. I'll be getting that for sure! Yakumo
I got wii sports resort in, it's fantastic. Well worth the money and it's not as gimmicky as you would think. The game actually has a bit of depth. There is even a mode where you fly an airplane around searching the island for landmarks etc.
