I'm thinking about modding my xbox, and will probably just be doing this to play import DVDs and games. So how is the Japanese xbox software market? I've seen some interesting games like Puyo Pop Fever... etc.. I mean it's xbox, I know I won't be finding PS2 "import-quality" games. I also doubt there are a lot of xbox translation FAQs around because of lack of interest in Japanese xbox games. And what about PAL games? I haven't researched too far into those, but I don't think they'd play on my NTSC TV (unless the xbox converts the video signal into what region it is marked as on the EEPROM before outputting it). So what do you guys think? Edit by silverbolt: We are not blind, please use the standard type size and colours for you posts.
I don't know about US TVs but german TVs are capable to display NTSC since many years.I don't know too much about japan only x-box releases and most PAL games are released in the US too beside a few exeptions. So if you don't want to play "backups" or use your xbox as a server or whatever I don't know how useful modding would be for you. btw why do you need to write in big blue letters? ;-)
American TVs can't view PAL or SECAM. PAL60 we can view in black & white w/ a little blur artifact. That hardly matters though because its not like games are "encoded" in PAL... NTSC only playback PAL video if they think they should. If you own a NTSC system and the system thinks the game is NTSC (patched or something) then it will try to run NTSC. Truely nowadays, I think all PAL games get released over here so its not that big of an issue.
